Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
"Hi." He glanced over at her. "I was thinking we could go to town today. If you want." 

Charity
"Yeah, that would be great," she said, managing a smile.

Ahanu 
Her smile looked force. I wanted to make her happy, but all I did was make things worse. "I named my rats. Bambi and Andie." He looked at his bed, where Andie was trying to get Bambi to play. 

Charity
Charity smiled, this time a real smile. "Those are cute names."

Ahanu 
"Yeah," he said with a small shrug. "How did you sleep?"

Charity
Charity thought about the question. "It was alright. You?"

Ahanu 
"Good. Is there anything in particular you want to do today?"

Charity
She shook her head. "No- whatever you want to do is fine with me."

Ahanu 
"Oh. Okay. Why don't you finish your cereal? I hope it's not ruined..." 

 Charity
"I'll... finish it la- actually that's not possible..." Charity looked at the cereal and hummed something to herself. "I'm just not hungry anymore... it was good though."

Ahanu 
He nodded, not sure what to say at this point. "Yesterday... I was really tired. I'm sorry if I went too far or my doubts got tiring." 

Charity
"Nah, you're good." Charity unbraided her now dry hair, happy that it was now wavy instead of straight. 

Ahanu 
"I might try horseback riding today, if you're up to it." Ahanu noticed her movement in his peripheral and turned his head. Her hair looked nice like that.

Charity
"Always am," she said, running her hand through her hair and brushing it to one side.

Ahanu 
"Th-thanks. So, uh, do you want to go to town or ride first? It doesn't matter to me."
