Name Change? + A Thank you

Would everyone completely freak out if I changed my name? 

I've been considering it for months.

My new name would be most likely my primary screen name; sable-silence or sable silence.

Reasons for name change

Sib came from my second Equiverse game name; Siberian Husky 101. Which I got the idea for from a show on Animal Planet called Dogs 101; when they covered Huskies one day. I was 13 at the time, and lacked creativity for naming. The name had hardly any meaning other than I knew a lot about and loved huskies. Sib was made up by the community to shorten the mouthful of a game name I had. I can even recall the first time, I noticed the nickname was madoka (behr at the time) said it in an art sale post that I was given a free recolor on. 

After that it seemed everyone was using it, making funny variations of it *cough*Ruby*cough*, and only calling me that. This sparked several name changes, Sib Husky Magix, and Egyptian Sib being the notable ones. Before, I finally settled for just Sib in 2014. I've done holiday variations or pranks; but it's never permanently changed. 

Don't get me wrong, I love it. However, it doesn't hold any sentimental value to it much anymore. Other than the fact it was Equiverse's wonderful community who gave it to me. I think that's one reason it's stuck for so long.

Meaning Behind the New Name

sable-silence/sable silence means the world to me on many personal levels I won't bother going into. Sable is the nickname people use to shorten it (but I'm cool if you still call me Sib). I will explain that Sable is my favourite word, and also my favourite canine coat colour/marking. Silence holds a deeply personal meaning; that one day I may explain. A few have tried to guess; and have come close; however I haven't revealed what they got right or wrong.

sable-silence has a nice ring to it as well; and is a bit more intriguing that Sib. At least according to my mom xD

Mispronunciations, Discrimination, and Teasing, In Regards to Sib and Equiverse

This is in real life; I've never had it on the game or elsewhere online. This rant is not aimed at anyone here; if anything I'm defending you against some things; my folks have stated. I love all of you guys!

Mispronunciations are quite frustrating; and having to correct people can be awkward. I've had family or friends ask about the nickname, since I've had friends call me it on social media. In real life, they ask me about it; and the conversations can be a bit odd. First of all, some of my family dislikes that I'm a gamer; and dislikes any talk of Equiverse or other games I play. So, saying that Sib stems from a sim game, I've spent 6 years playing fairly consistently; will irk them. 

Some of my family friends have some weird stigma against making friends online; because they've seen "all these horror stories" of how someone was stalked or kidnapped from a supposed "online friend". Which, I typically tell them that where I'm playing games and meeting people; is not likely to have predators roaming about; and that I'm careful. 

I hate when people insult Equiverse, or try to say "you're wasting time talking to fake friends and playing pointless games; when you could be doing (blank)." 

A big paragraph of my love of Equiverse

Nothing makes me angrier than calling my friends fake; and the Equiverse community and gameplay pointless.

 You all have seen me at my best, worst, and anywhere in between. You've supported me, helped me through bouts of depression, and kept me on my feet in times of great stress. 

I wouldn't be where I am today without the support and friendship that this place has given me. My confidence, self esteem, and anxiety are very much improved. This place helped me with my struggles with mathematics; such as budgeting, saving funds, calculations, and doing equations in the real world. It's taught me a lot of life lessons, that I would've probably never learned otherwise. 

This place has let me be my complete self, without worries of discrimination for my sexuality, disabilities, religious views, or inability to do basic activities that normal folks can do with ease. 

Someone on here actually inspired me to come out; and I doubt I'd have the courage, to have done so without them. 

I certainly wouldn't have known of deviantart and wouldn't have started digital art without this community's encouragement. It's changed my life, and I'm so happy.

This is not some farewell post; even though it kind of sounds like it xD. Y'all are stuck with me.

It's a thank you to Equiverse, Abbey, and the wonderful community for being there for me, and shaping me into the person I am today. 

So....

The big question remains, would you be cool with me changing my name? You are free to still call me Sib, and all of it's many variations. I won't be bothered, and they do make me laugh. So, go crazy.

I would be cool with it, it might get some getting used too, but yah, lol. And Sable-Silence sounds really cool. :)

I am sure your Equiverse friends would all support you in doing what makes you happy.

I think your new name is beautiful. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks or if they'll be bothered by it; a name is a deeply personal thing and I think it's wonderful that in today's age we have the ability to give new names to ourselves.

I, too, hate it when people say online friends are fake. I met my best friend online on another sim site. She now lives with me and my whole family loves her. We'd never met in person before she moved in. That's proof enough for me that online friends are real.

Sab is already sort of taken, as far as it would get confusing for some of us valencia (our mod Sabriel being the other Sab ((hope I spelled your name right Sabbers, its been to long since I called you anything besides Sab XD)).

Love sable-silence. It may take me a bit (if ever lol) to call you anything but Sib/Sibbers, but I say go for it, since it does have so much meaning to you.

lol my real name gets mispronounced like all the time (most generally ends up that people will actually call me by what my cousin's name is since we have pretty similar names), but I actually like it/am not bothered by it because generally they are pretty creative and I have a few I like enough I may use in my books or something as character names :D My friend's dad was terrible with my name for years (as far as could not remember it for the life of him XD) so he just called me Sue XD But I know that mispronouncing things can not be everyones favorite thing/can understand somewhat.

lol I'm in my 20s and any friend I have made online that I have trusted enough to give any of my real info to is either someone from college or one of my trips because my mom is one of those who is like internet danger people and goes who the heck is this person/where do you know them from XD
