Hello! Just wishing to get some help on a few things from those who are more versed in the ways of this game.

I am, so far, pleasantly surprised. I am only active on one other horse game- all the other ones I've tried are not nearly as interesting, nor as artistically inclined, as I've found this game to be. I do plan on sticking around.

However, I am the definition of a 'newbie' here. Have only been here a week (or two?). So I do have some questions.

  • What are the strategies with new foals? Is there a specific pattern that needs to be followed concerning their training? And treats. Is there a pattern of some kind that allows max gain when concerning them?

  • When giving treats, I've also found the typical apples, turnips, etc. but I also see some more exotic treats like birthday cake, flowers (I think?), etc.. I went to the store, but they aren't available there. Where can I get these types of treats? Does it require a deluxe membership?

  • When striving for perfect conformation, is it just important to make sure both the dam and sire have decent conformation numbers, or is there other things that need to be taken into account?

  • Is the deluxe membership worth it?

I want to thank everyone ahead of time for any answers! Very eager to get a proper start!

1. I've found with foal training it gives you more stats at the end (when you choose a discipline) If you do different things every day, when you have the option. I usually go down the list and if there is an extra day (which will be inevitable at 1yr old) I go back and do the first on the list again. It's also easier when treating to give your foal treats that will go with their discipline in the beginning, rather than fees hay cubes, sugar cubes, and so on until 3 or older because you'd have to set their specialty to one you don't want and then pay $10,000 to convert to one you do want. Horses who use the first method throughout their lives do better in shows (unless you convert at 3 with option 2.)

2. Those treats are found during events (correct me if I'm mistaken.) I'm not sure if it requires Deluxe, however.

3. I don't breed for confirmation a lot, but people usually pair their horses according to complementary factors, i.e. mare has poor shoulders, but stallion has good shoulders, and it's important to start with horses that have high confo averages.

The treats that you mentioned are quite hard to come by and are from before I joined, so I don't know much about them. I don't know where they originated from, but they're worth a lot.
Deluxe membership is definitely worth it! It's less expensive than many sites, so it's a good deal in my opinion. It's not necessary to be deluxe to play well, since the deluxe features are really just bonuses, but I definitely suggest it. :)

Thank you both! Will probably grab a deluxe membership to see how it helps. Much cheaper than the other horse game I've been playing since 2008. I like that.

I do have another question- how can I insert personal images onto my page? I click the 'insert image' option but it only gives me the option of inserting a URL. My personal images are in HTML. How can I work this out?

And how do I register a horse in a club that I am a member of?

1. As long as you try to train everyday, using a variety of different disciplines (Introduction to tack, Weaning, etc.), the foal will get the maximum amount of stats possible. More info here, from when foal training was first implemented.

2. The 'special' treats, I believe, give more stats than 'ordinary' ones (turnips, apples). However, these treats could potentially give non-speciality stats, which are stats outside of the stats needed for the horse's discipline. These can hurt the advantages in showing and are widely undesirable, unless you feed them to foals (before age 3), and use the second method mentioned by Bandit. You do not have to be a deluxe member to own these treats, however they are very rare and would cost a lot of money. They can be obtained by buying from another player or, by a very rare chance, from the junkyard (if a player decided to discard them). You cannot buy them from the shop.

3. I think that everything Bandit said is correct :D

4. This depends on your opinion. There is information here about the perks. Personally, I find it really good value for money. One tip: I would save up for 6 months or a year, as it will cost far less than buying it a month at a time. c:

5. Oh! Also, to answer your question, you need to upload the image(s) to an image hosting site. Then insert the link. And to register horses, go to the club page and click the link in the box with 'owner' 'admins' 'horses' and click on 'horses'. Then scroll down to the 'register a horse' box and fill out the dropdown.

I hope you found this all useful, and any more questions - PM me.

You've gotten plenty of great answers here, but just to clarify the special treats. Peppermints can rarely be found via the fountain leisure rides and  maybe the junkyard. A step below Peppermints are the Hay Cubes and Sugar Cubes which are most commonly found in Riding Schools. Bunches, Crates and bags of treats can be bought in the general store, while their single use counterparts are found in riding schools and leisure rides.
Flower Slices and Easter Bouquets were specialty Easter items a few years back and grandfathered in when we swapped to the recode version but have not been re-introduced. Same with Birthday Cake that was for Ev's birthday, or maybe a joint release with Niner ponies for Niner's birthday? I'm a little fuzzy on that since it was so long ago xD In any case you don't have to be a deluxe to have them, but unless they're re-release you will have to buy them from other players!
