Jade
Denver put his arm around Kahlen, and Jade's grin faded. Shut up, brain, she admonished herself. Don't ruin everyone's day. She glanced at Alex next to her and her grin returned, thankfully. James and Ethel walked out. "Um, locks... Sorry, I'm having a brain fart." She turned to Ethel. "Yeah, you missed those two getting claimed by their dad, Apollo." She glanced to Chiron, wondering what was going to happen next. He turned to her and Alex.
"The infirmary is there," he said, gesturing. "They should be able to mend your leg in no time, Alexander Ivanov." Jade stifled a giggle. "Don't be late for dinner." Was there a hint of a smile? 
Jade turned to Alex. "Well, Alexander Ivanov," she said, over enunciating his name, "do you require my assistance in facing the very formidable porch steps?"

Alex
"I can take on the steps by myself." He retorted, almost falling off of the top step. "....But you could always come along if you have nothing else to do, I suppose." 

Katie
After joining the back of the group, she caught the tail end of what James had said. She didn't say anything - she really, really didn't want to be pegged as crazy - but she made the mental note to talk to him later. Maybe they had the same parent? Katie almost shuddered; the thought weird.

Jade
She raised her eyebrow at his first statement, and couldn't help but giggle when he wobbled on the first step, even though she was a bit worried he would fall and hurt himself more. She took a few short strides and was already next to him, still laughing a little. "Good thing I'm not busy." A bit awkwardly, Jade put her arm across his shoulders to help him balance. "Um," she said elegantly, faltering a little, "you could, uh, lean on me for support." Her heart was racing, and she didn't know why. 

Alex
Alex flashed her a grin, leaning on her but trying not to put too much weight on her - by the looks of things he probably weight more than she did, and he didn't want her to fall over and get hurt. 'So now you're caring? Now you're being considerate? Or is Jade just special?' A voice in the back of his head whispered, and he shoved it away. 'Jade is special. She isn't like the others. I don't want to talk about this with you.' Alex mentally growled back, carefully making his way down the steps.

Jade
They reached the bottom of the steps, and she let her arm fall, taking a small step sideways. Warmth still lingered where he had been leaning on her. Jade suddenly stooped and picked something up. It was a stick. She offered it to Alex with a grin. "Here's a very well-crafted walking stick. See, very strong." She leaned on it and sprawled to the ground when it snapped under her. She sat a moment, startled a little, and then starting to laugh, she grinned upward, offering him half the stick. "I'll sell it to you real cheap. Any offers?"

Alex
Alex snickered, composing himself enough to stroke his chin in fake thought. "Hmm..... I may have to graciously decline your quality products, your honour." He grinned, holding out a hand to help her up. "Need some help?"

Jade
"Nah, I'm good," she said, putting her hands on the ground and beginning to push herself up. Suddenly the world began to spin and turn black. "Alex!" she managed, and collapsed on the ground.

The black was thick and disorienting. Jade could tell she was unconscious but shouldn't she be... ya know... not conscious? "Silly child," a voice swirled around her, and she couldn't tell if it was male or female. "You think you are so very brave." Jade looked around, or at least she thought she was, but it was completely black. "You don't know what I think!" she yelled in defiance. "Are you sure? I know what you think of Alexander." Jade probably would have been blushing if it wasn't completely black. "I think he's a friend," she replied in a small voice. The voice laughed scornfully. "Who are you?" "That is unimportant." Jade was terrified, but she didn't want them to know. "If you're so unimportant, can I wake up now? Being in the blackness is cool and all, but what I was doing was a lot more fun." "Gah! Insolent child. I will enjoy your torment." "Sorry, don't have time in my schedule for torment. You'll have to book ahead." "You irritate me." "Oh, good," Jade responded with as much cheerfulness as she could muster. The voice growled. "We'll see how long your life stays happy, Jade Harper. We'll see." Jade felt herself slowly returning to consciousness.

Alex
As Jade had cried out and fallen, Alex had just barely managed to snag her arm and catch her before she'd landed head first on the ground, instead catching her and settling (more like falling) onto the ground, resting her head in his lap. "Chiron?" Alex had called anxiously, after checking Jade was breathing. The centaur had been watching the two from the porch, but rushed over at Alex's calling. "She's having a vision - they're quite common with powerful demigods, when other powerful people are trying to contact them. She'll be alright, just wait for her to wake up." Chiron reassured, and Alex nodded, nerves not entirely fading but soothing a little.

Jade
She gasped and sat up, her breathing coming in small gasps. She looked around wildly for a moment, her eyes wide, before she let out a deep breath of air. "I'm okay," she said quietly, looking up at Alex and Chiron. "I don't really know what happened. It was all black, and," her voice caught, but she forced herself to keep going, "and a voice talked to me. I couldn't tell if it was a guy or girl. They, uh," She looked at her hands and noticed they were shaking. Why was she so upset by this? She needed to pull herself together. Instead, her eyes betrayed her and grew moist. "They said they were going to enjoy my torment." 

Kahlen
Kahlen stopped. Somehow, she could sense something was wrong. Very wrong. She ran back to the house.
Denver
Denver was surprised when his sister stopped and bolted in the other direction. "Kahlen!" He called.
Kahlen
Kahlen stopped when she got back to the house. "Oh no....." Her heart was racing. She started pacing, not knowing what to do with the nervous energy inside her. Kahlen ran a hand through her hair, murmuring to herself.
Denver
"Kahlen?" She didn't respond, but kept pacing. "Kahlen! What's going on?" He grabbed her shoulders, forcing her to stop. "I don't know, but... it's not good. Something is wrong, and- and I don't know what it is!" She snapped in frustration. His sister, usually calm, cool, and collected in the face of the unexpected, was starting to worry him.

Alex
Alex soothingly rubbed Jade's back, giving her an almost helpless smile and shrug. "I mean.... I'd offer to beat them up for you but...." He glared pointedly at his leg. "I'm in a little bit of a dilemma here."

Jade
She laughed, but it sounded forced even to her. She closed her eyes for a moment, relaxing a little, a small smile on her face. It felt nice to just sit here, her head in Alex's lap and him rubbing her back. "We'll see how long your life stays happy, Jade Harper. We'll see." Her eyes snapped open when she recalled the voice's words. She wanted to scream and cry and lash out all at the same time, but she didn't. She just stayed still, looking up at the sky. She tensed as the voice drifted through her head again. "Don't get too attached." She looked around, but it seemed nobody else had heard it. Oh, pleasant, her very own personal evil voice. It's creepy laugh echoed in her head. "You will beg for mercy for -" "Shut up," she snapped aloud, and was relieved that the voice did not respond. She smiled apologetically at Alex. "Sorry, evil voice whispering in my head. Needed to yell at it." She hated that she was shaking.

Alex
Alex smiled softly down at her. "No need to apologize. Yell at much as you'd like." He absently tucked a few stray locks of hair behind her ear, looking up at Chiron. "What cabin are we staying in?"  He watched Kahlen rush back over, confused.

Jade
She directed her gaze at Chiron. "Hermes, unless you are claimed. That cabin takes in all unclaimed demigods." His expression looked slightly troubled. "Why don't you four," he motioned to Kahlen and Denver, "go to the infirmary and take the tour together." He turned and walked back into the blue house. Jade sighed and slowly got to her feet, extending her hand to Alex. "Hurry up, slowpoke, she said, the ghost of a grin on her face.

Kahlen 
Kahlen felt like screaming and demolishing something. This uncertainty was driving her crazy! She balled her fists and forced herself to breathe normally. "-Go to the infirmary," Chiron said. She felt like she was going to explode any minute, but she could see her brother was a bit freaked out and put a calm expression on her face.
