Any suggestions or ideas?

#140242 Posted on 2018-01-11 14:42:02

I think I'm putting this in the right area, but mods feel free to move it if it isn't. (:

So, I've come across the issue that I'm guessing probably a few people do in art selling, and that is the issue of not-selling art. I was thinking it was mostly because of the lack of realism in my art, but that doesn't seem to be it. So I'm guessing it may be the way I'm presenting my art or the price I'm trying to sell it for that may be the issue? In other words, what makes your guys art sell? I can't figure out how to make mine sell, so any tips would be nice. (:

Note: This isn't to guilt trip anyone or make anyone feel bad for me. I simply just want to know any tips or tricks that could possibly help my art sell at higher prices. Thank you.

Do you have any examples?

I personally always use lower prices and that seems to work well for me

Yes I would. I don't like doing them as much though because it is kinda hard trying to get the right size for sigs and tags. ;D

bleep bloop
The example above is great^^
if you were to sell recolors of that you probably wouldn't have much trouble, though not everyone is a fan of large art as nobody's very sure as to what to do with it xD
I have a feeling you've made this as a painting rather than a recolorable greyscale though, which is fine and great! Personally I like paintings more. But for EV sales purposes most people want something more personalized to their characters.

Selling art relies heavily on knowing the market and what sells, here on ev small art such as tags, sigs, and pagedolls sell best (excluding character designs as those are a bit different). On DA you find larger pieces tend to sell fine and sometimes even better than something tag/sig sized because the use for it is greater (think HARPG)

Then we get in to quality/style and how it's priced, which sometimes can be figured out by looking up artists who sell similar quality/styled things, but if your work is really unique for the place you're selling, you just have to keep trying until you find what price works.

kinda hard trying to get the right size for sigs and tags.

Tag: 50px x 50px
Sig: 150px x 50px

If that’s what you meant by the right size...

Eliza D- makes sense that people on here like tags and sigs more. Never really thought about it though. Thanks! I'll take tags and sigs into more consideration. (;

GWG- Ooh, thanks! Now I know what the sizes are. (:

Actually, the sizes are 150 x 150 pixels for tags and 500 x 150 for sigs. The 500 is width, if it isn't obvious. xD
