Help me choose

I decided so start a herd of my own after I dwindle down the rescues I have right now, I still plan on having my rescue focusing more on the older horses in the RC then the young ones.

But I can't really decide on these breeds here, I went with the breeds that don't seem to be all that popular but I'm open to different breeds as well.

I'll be breeding for stats only, since I'm to lazy to want to learn about the right genetics for colors and confo never interested me

Clydesdale - driving

Friesian - dressage

Morgan - Western

Shetland Pony - either driving or racing haven't decided

Driving Shetlands - we need more serious breeders and, come on, you have to admit the fluffy devils are adorable XD

I used to breed dressage Friesians and based off of my own experience, if you keep their stats up and treat them well, buyers will pay a pretty penny for them if you ever decide to sell. However, solid Clydes are also very valuable if you try to breed for it. Morgans also appear to have be making a comeback lately.
So I would go for any of those three. :)

I've decided on going with just Shetland ponies, maybe later on adding another breed.

But I do have one question, what's a good amount of horses to start with?

YAY! Shetlands!

As for starting out with them, it depends on if you want to have just your own line or expand and use outside horses as well and also how many horses you think you can handle. I know some people like to start with an even number of horses like 8 or 16 to be able to breed down by generations to one single foal. Personally I like having a more steady herd to breed with  for the most part and periodically add foundations and horses from outside lines to keep my herds larger. I actually have an old guide in the game guides form (here) called Sab's 3x3 method which I use for my 5 disciplines of Shetlands on my spare account and it works very nice for keeping a steady herd of about 30 ponies for me over there!

@Sabriel, I plan on keeping to my own lines for now, but after a few generations adding a few outside lines as well, thanks for the advice I'll definitely check out that method :)
