Delete Records

#112378 Posted on 2017-07-02 14:34:18

I feel like on the old system there was an option to delete records - even if the horse wasn't deceased.

Is there a way to do that in the new system? I just have a couple of horses that are new foals and the thought of raising them for the next several months to just have them die and delete their records then seem really tedious.

How do you guys go around that?

Neglect them, then delete their records, I guess.

Hi there!
A long long time ago you could delete horses directly from your account on their page. This option was removed due to heavy abuse by players and instead you have two options now for getting rid of your unwanted horses besides selling them off.
First you can send them off to the RC. If you send them to the RC they can be picked up by any other player and that player can do what they wish with the horse. The horses will be available in the RC for three days and then it will be deleted if no one picks it up.
Secondly you can not care for the horse and it will die on your account. I believe it takes 5 days of no care, or 2? days without visiting the vet/farrier. It might be longer than 2 days... but either option will allow your horse to die and then you will be able to delete its records.

Deleting a horses records still keeps the records intact for pedigree information but the horse will no longer be associated with your account.

Thank you Sabriel! That helps a lot!

I am wondering if we would be able to bring that back - maybe have the stipulation that you can only delete those records if the horse doesn't have any offspring? I'm not sure how that would go or people would continue to abuse it.

If I remember correctly there was a suggestion or two about it in the Suggestions forum if you'd like to look for them. Early Retirement, euthanasia and deleting horses might be some search terms to use.

Regardless deleting records is different from deleting horses, deleting records is perfectly allowed and already in place, the horse just has to have died before you are able to delete the records. Deleting records does not remove the horse from the game, just removes the horse's association with your account. The horse's basic information is kept in the database for pedigrees and a page for the horse will still be view-able if clicked on it will just have the owner listed as "paddocks in the sky" instead of a person. Deleting horses is what was removed ages ago for abuse as it broke pedigrees for horses and caused a lot of heartache for members that happened to. If some form of horse removal was reintegrated I'm sure that it would keep the records deletion and never go back to destroying any pedigrees, so that form of deletion is obsolete.

Thanks Sab! I found a couple topics and wrote down my thoughts. I hope they bring it back, but with either one or two stipulations. 1) the horse can't have any foals (so this won't ruin pedigrees) and/ or 2) you have to be the owner of the horse.
