*Add More Horse Breeds

What I noticed is that currently Equiverce has no light draft breeds. IIRC there were Haflingers in previous version of the game but they got culled. And current Welch ponies are presented by light saddle type. If there are plans to add more breeds I would suggest to add colourful light draft breeds such as Vyatka (base + dun + cream + gray) and Byelorussian Harness Horse (base + dun + cream + gray + sabino).

The idea of adding donkeys is interesting. I think they're certainly unique enough to do well here.

This is a horse sim, not a donkey sim. What would be the purpose of adding donkeys? Pets and other silly additions have never added much to any gameplay ever.

Regarding adding new breeds, I still think it's too early to add new ones. I'm not so enthusiastic about cross breeds being added first though.

Donkeys are equines, same as horses. They are often used for the same purposes, and can even compete in the same disciplines. They can also crossbreed with horses, even if the result will be sterile. It's not too strange to have donkeys on a horse sim. Plenty of others do. Also, I don't think they can be classed as pets any more than horses can.

I agree with Ulysses on that.
Besides, there are plenty of other horse sims that have added donkeys as a breed not a pet, so I don't see the problem in suggesting them.
And who wouldn't want to compete with a donkey/mule. It was a good suggestion.

I'm completely in agreementwith UlyssesBlue on this one. Donkeys are equines and work as much as horses in poorer parts of the world.

Not to mention that this game is called "equiverse" not "horseville". In my opinion any type of equine is an eligible breed to add to the game, even the wild Mongolian horses and zebra are likely candidates for a new breed. (They probably haven't been considered before now but they are still equines.)

I know this is a long long shot but I would love to have donkeys in here, I would be all over that lol

Completely agree with UlyssesBlue, RemRem, and Danzy. Donkeys are equine, and it's not like that game with the 2d world that they added dogs to, donkeys aren't any more of pets then horses are.

I'd rather not see donkeys added, as then you could make the same suggestions for mules, zebras, burros etc
Seems a bit redundant to me and i'd much rather see more horse breeds than donkeys or any of the sort. Also, not much color variation by the seems of it

I would draw the line with zebras, and all of that because this is a competition game.
Donkeys, mules, ponies, and horses seems like a fair grouping away from the others. You won't really see someone competing with a zebra in dressage or racing, etc.

But you won't really see someone competing in those with donkeys or mules etc And if we're using the Equus argument, well Zebras are of the Equus genus so why not? That's why I can't support this

The difference between zebras and donkeys is that zebras are not a domesticated species. Domestication isn't just training an animal to respond to human commands, it's hundreds (sometimes thousands) of years of selective breeding to produce an animal that has both the temperament and physical traits to work well with humans. Animals like horses, donkeys, and dogs have gone through this process. Zebras and wolves have not.

Likewise, there are plenty of examples of donkey races, jumping donkeys, breed registries and shows, etc. It's also common to see donkeys pulling carts or ploughs as they are a work animal. There's even a few dressage donkeys. You can't say the same about zebras. Although it may be possible to find a rare individual that can do some of these things, they are the exception, not the rule.

My point is simply that you cannot use the same argument for zebras as you can for donkeys. Adding donkeys wouldn't mean we'd also get zebras. They are very different creatures.

Donkeys and horses are two different species. Last I checked the game was about Equus caballus, not Equus africanus asinus. I don't see the relevance in both being equines and the ability to interbreed.

I'm sure there are competitions for donkeys, but it is not very common. Most donkeys are either kept as pets or livestock, not show animals. Keeping and breeding donkeys have just recently gained more interest in the western countries.

Even if we were to add a new species, there are many differences between donkey and horse which would have to be taken into consideration. It would require much more work than just adding a new breed of horse. We would have to add one or several breeds, new patterns/colors and their names, new genetic system and additional competitions/disciplines for them. It would look ridiculous to have an Andalusian donkey and an Andalusian horse compete against each other.

I don't want donkeys, zebras, llamas, or anything like that. This is a horse SIM, and, in my opinion, the only animals on here should be horses. As for new breeds, I'd be fine with it in the future, but I just really don't want other animals on here.

Also:@Dratini, I agree completely.

I will most likely not add donkeys to EV.
