I need to work on eating healthier too . . . I don't eat actively unhealthy things (cause generally things that are very greasy/fatty/excessively sweet give me a stomachache so I tend to avoid them naturally), but I also don't actively eat healthy things.

I really enjoy fruit and try to have it as often as I can, but the fruits I like best aren't the most readily available, especially in the north where I live. We tend to have lots of oranges around because my parents eat them, but I have never liked oranges and still don't. I like kiwis and pears and pomegranates . . . we hardly ever have those around though and I'm not sure what I can do about it.

It's also not the easiest for me to get enough protein, because my parents' dietary needs are so different from mine . . . they have to cut out lots of meat, but if I don't have some meat/poultry/seafood regularly I have no energy whatsoever. I can't just live on vegetables and fish cause I get weak and then I also start to suffer from iron deficiency (I get the cracks in the corners of my mouth that are a sure sign of it). I take a multivitamin but that's not the same as getting nutrients from actual food.

I overall struggle with trying to eat what we have on hand, because I can't put out for separate food, while trying to maintain a decent level of energy and healthfulness. I'm having a hard time coming up with solutions to deal with that combination of things, and really don't know what to do. Perhaps a potential solution is shakes/smoothies like you were mentioning, Bopper.

Sorry that turned into such a long explanation. |D

For the motivation thing, finding music that gets you energized and ready to work out/run/etc can really help. I find too that being inspired by someone you admire who does the kinds of exercises you're into can help as well - for instance, I'm a Tom Hiddleston fan and he is a runner, so thinking about him and some of his enthusiasm for running can really help me get excited about it. Little things like that help, that and the overall nice feeling of having exercised and feeling that you have achieved something for the day, even if it was just a small thing for your health and nothing else.

Today I did my "run" (I'm doing interval running so I can work into proper running) and was able to jog for 35 seconds straight instead of 30, and kept my walks around 2, maybe 3 minutes instead of 3+, and I didn't feel as out of breath while doing it! Plus my Fitbit automatically recognized it as an aerobic workout instead of a walk which means I must have run too much for it to be a walk but not enough to be considered a run. Yay! I also finished the route I've been going in about 20 minutes instead of 25-30, so I'm really excited about all of this! Progress is so exciting.

For those who lack motivation I've been setting VERY small goals and trying to beat them, because knowing you can gives you the drive to go further. My goal right now is run at least a mile without stopping, and I'm hoping that I can make my reward to run in a 5k. However I will NEVER run a mile straight just by starting to try it, I'm working up to it with small goals. A few days I lightly jogged 30 seconds on, walked 3-4 minutes. Today I did 35 seconds, 2-3 minutes. Seeing that accomplishment makes me feel like tomorrow I'll be able to go out and do better! I am not a self motivated person (though I am very competitive, so I'm making it a competition against myself) so some days I can talk myself out of exercising, but I try not to go more than 1-2 days and I try to compensate (walking a little more etc) and then even if I don't want to, I drag myself out again.

If you can find a buddy, definitely do so! They will motivate you a lot.

So I just registered to do my second 5K!

I HATE running, seriously, I despise it. BUT all proceeds go towards helping local under-resourced children to summer camp. So it's for a fantastic shape.

I did my first 5K a few years ago and I wasn't in the best shape. Now, I'm in the best shape of my life so I'm hoping this time I'll kick some 5K booty!

Race day is April 30th!

Well.. for anyone that cares:: Pretty much just got home. I got up at 6:12am and was to the hospital by 8:00am. I didn't go in for surgery until around 11:00am. Instead of a general anesthetic, they did a spinal block which I suppose is like an epidural but different. Everything went exactly as it should. The actual procedure took 20 - 25 minutes but since they did a spinal block, I got to lay flat for 4 HOURS.

I hurt rather magnificently at the moment but I'm in good enough mental and emotional spirits.

I'm not sure on my fluid intake today or even if you guys would count IV fluids. Lol! ;)

Laying flat for 4 hours sounds marvelous. My back has been acting up really bad lately, and so has my "if I'm not doing anything I'm being unproductive and we can't have that" mode.

It sounds nice but the reality of it is that I couldn't move. I had to lay perfectly flat on my back, no shifting, lifting my head, rolling over, sitting up, nothing. For four. Hours. It was uncomfortable. xD

:( I love running. But I used to HATE it. I guess I found those places that make me happy to be running. I'm not really sure. You just have to get past the "I feel so slow and out of shape" point

Oooh, we have a fitness club now?

Count me in!

I have been working out for a little over a year right now. I was quite overweight, and me and my mom decided to join a local gym that offered a program specifically for overweight and out of shape individuals who needed some extra help and good advice for getting healthy.

I wasn't able to run at all, My body fat % and BMI were sky high, and I had a horrible eating pattern. I had also been suffering from sever back pain and muscle infections in my lower back for years.

Now I run 3 km, I lost 14 kg, my body fat and abdominal fat are getting back to normal, and I'm rid of my back pains!

I'm not an athlete and don't consider myself fit or into shape, but one day I will get there :)

I don't know how everyone else is doing but I'm falling off the bandwagon. I've just been really bummed (rainy weather doesn't help) so now I'm drinking pop again (hopefully it won't be too hard to cut it back out) and haven't really been exercising at all. I've tried to keep up a little by doing some walking and stuff but. Blah. :(((

I'm not doing too hot considering I can't walk... Although I have been trying to track my meals, and I've been going over on calories nearly every day.
