So.... Who here does not do capes for characters/art of/etc.? I've had literally 3-4 people now ( will not name) that has had an artist not do/refuse to do a cape.

I don't do them and I won't - they're annoying, too large to add easily, and they cover both the base and the background (which I usually spend at least as much time on as the base, if not more) you put the time and effort into making. To make them look really good requires time spent on adding dimension and folds to cloth that I'm just not willing to do for a recolour sale. Generally I personally dislike capes because they both cover the character, and I find the idea of a horse wearing clothing (as opposed to smaller decorative addon items) to be somewhat silly. I would only add a cape onto a piece that was specifically commissioned with that need in mind.

I'll do large add-ons sometimes, but every now and then (especially for more recent sales) I just don't have the time to do them as it requires drawing them out in a way that still looks good on the artwork, then shading it, and adding whatever other lighting it needs and the shadows that it casts, which in turn means I have to adjust the highlights on the base etc. etc. sometimes I'm just not in the mood for doing all that but I'll always be upfront about it before I ever take a buyer's money.

Considering one of my main characters wears a cape, I have no problem doing them lol. I'll do most add-ons by request, at the end of the day people want an accurate representation of the character with your work, not just a half assed job. I'm always of the opinion that if you don't have time to recolour or aren't willing to and complain about it then you shouldn't be offering them. There's also nothing wrong with trying the add on if you're not that experienced and offering a version without it, you're gonna have to practice at some point if you want to progress and be more versatile.

I do capes..still trying to do them at least. I guess I need more practice? I do all addons even if not requested because I like the challenge. If it's a design of tag or sig that is angled wierd, I tell them I'll try them but not sure how they'll turn out.

I'm totally fine with drawing capes. To be honest, I don't like them and I wouldn't do it on my own horse but on someones' else when he/she is asking about that - why not? :)

I'm not opposed to doing them and will do them (though I still need to practice with them), I will attempt it but will tell someone upfront that it may not turn out as they might want it especially if it is on a tag/sig with a weird angle.
