See now, this idea is right up my alley, mostly because I didn't realize gelding was just for stallions until yesterday. It's a thing that bothers me. People can drop 30k making foundations for new lines, but the baddies get dumped. And some people breed a TON of horses and just drop half into the RC. Meanwhile others are very protective of their well bred stock. It's like a whole compassion roulette.

(I know I sound rude and off the cuff, but c'mon, guys. In terms of art and realism, EV is literally the best I have ever some across. The realism attacks my lizard brain.)

I dunno, I suppose my point is I find some very nice horses in the RC that also help me build good money to take care of my other horses, but not all these picks are breed worthy and would serve only to make more RC horses. As a free player, who could bever afford gender swap/gelding, spaying would allow me to keep my useless, pretty pretty mares, build capital, and not interfere with my forming bloodlines. ;)

There are a lot of problems that come with deleting that won't be there for spaying, hence I believe spaying would be better. Also, like I have previously stated, some people do want colorful spayed mares. Not everyone plays the game to just breed.

I have not and will not vote on this idea. Here is my thoughts what about new players trying to find half way decent horse to buy and eventually breed? Finding Stallion to help boost your herd is expensive. If mares are cut from the breeding cycle that will raise their prices as well and might discourage new players. Just my thoughts.

There really isn't a shortage of horses on the market..And I doubt everyone is just going to be spaying mares willy nilly.

Okay NOW I'm upset. I didn't realize the horse I wanted to geld was a mare, so there was a different stallion in the geld option AND I JUST LOST A GOOD BREEDING HORSE. Not happy right now.

Especially since I'm clicking horse by horse to avoid this sort of thing.

I really like HeartOnFire's suggestion a place that we can put horses we dont want bred again and cant be adopted out. Like a horse sanctuary sort of. It could maybe be a location in town next to the RC. I dont think we need to bend the spaying rules I just think we need more options on what we can do with our unwanted furry friends. The sanctuary I used to donate to had horses you could sponser and never an option to buy or adopt. So his would run true to real life.....

Full support! If you can do it to a stallion, why shouldn't you be able to do it to a mare?

Buying loki's daggers and then gelding them seems like a complete waste of money, and I would feel bad leaving them on a different account to die off (which I unfortunately have to do sometimes).

Plus, just cause you might not use the feature, doesn't mean it shouldn't be available to people that would!

And Blodwyn, it might be fine to hold onto one mare until she dies of old age, but how about ten? Twenty? I recently just paid 45k for 5 more horse slots, something I wouldn't have to do if I could geld mares.

Absolutely support this, been wishing for it for a very long time. In my mind it's better than tossing them on to a spare account and letting them "die" (yes, I know they're not real and nothing is actually dying... but I feel so irresponsible! D: lol).

Buying daggers to swap them is an incredible waste of (real) money and there is zero chance I'd do that.

What I'd REALLY like to see is the option (as in, optional, you won't be forced to do it, much like no one is forcing anyone to buy geldings or spayed mares) to permanently retire a horse early. Example: I have a 10 year old mare that I do not need, and no one wants to buy. Alternative solution: permanently retire the horse with no option to un-retire it. Like a deceased horse, it would be removed from my account and sent to... wherever, and would not be recoverable, thereby making it so you'd better be realllllly sure you actually want to retire it. I'd be overjoyed with such a feature.

But as it stands now I'd be totally satisfied with just being able to spay mares. Then I could RC them for people like Kuk who pick up stuff to use solely in riding schools.

I agree with Blodwyn's first post. No support, because I don't like the idea of discouraging newer players, and breeders. I just really don't like this, I don't want the game cluttered with spayed mares... I just REALLY don't want this.

Support!
And there are not an excessive amount of geldings around. Proposing there would be an excess of spayed mares if this were to be added is simply not true.....

I know, but it just doesn't work for me, and many others.

I cant support this, as I think of something else. What if a newer member gets one of these mares, and when its older wanted to breed it? You're taking that chance away from them, which really isn't a welcoming thought. Why would someone go to the effort of training etc when they can't breed it and get an offspring. I know i'd be annoyed at the thought, mares are meant to have foals.
Sorry.
Geldings I understand, as that's a commoner thing. Stallion's aren't always the best horses to ride, care for etc as they can be very high strung in some cases. Geldings are a more commonly accepted thing.
Only time I could support such a thing is if there is inbreeding in a lineage. Any other time, no, I can't see why you'd do it, aside from health issues etc that were pointed out that happen in real life, but not in this game.

IMO either add spayed mares, or remove geldings.

Any and all arguments against spaying mares (that are applicable to a game) exist for geldings too.

In real life I'm spaying my mare because she has a tumor on her ovary. It is very far from routine and very expensive. I'd lean towards no.
