I am somewhat indecisive, but I lean toward supporting. The fact is, my plan is to use a Loki's dagger on mares I do not want breeding and then geld them, but that doesn't help much with mares which have previously been bred, and it gets very expensive. Stallions can still be gelded after breeding, but there is no solution for mares that have been bred. This poses a dilemma for me in the sense that if I want to move my mare on to a new home but do not want to let someone use her for breeding, I cannot have things both ways.

I totally support and would be much easier of keeping my lines clean this way. As others have said before, spaying mares do happen in real life. One of my previous mares was spayed long before we got her, but I do not know exactly why. Plus, they would go alongside what people use gelding for in the game.

Complete support. I have several mares that I'd part with but don't want the bloodlines over bred. This couldn't happen soon enough.

Since I only see comments of users wanting to get rid of their unwanted mares, I'm going to put my light on the other side. Since I don't support.

As a fairly new user of course it's nice to get some better, more experienced horses. But unbreedable mares, just like geldings are useless to me, 'cause then I get some better/high stats/cool colored horses and you can't go on with them anyways. And if you want them for competing, competition's only getting harder on Local/Regional level, so why not just start with a Novice horse.
To be honest, I don't even look twice to any gelding for sale or in the RC. So spayed mares, in my opinion is only going to create more -lets say- polution of the market.

If you don't want other players to use your lines and protect it... just hold on to it, let it die or anything. You're "dumping" it anyways.

I don't care either way since it's not a feature I'd use, but Blodwyn makes a good point. I've noticed it's much easier to win Novice level shows because a horse is mostly competing against foundies there. So adding more high stat horses to the RC is not that helpful for new players.

I agree with Blodwyn completely.
If we are going to be completely honest, geldings has a lesser value than stallions. A lot of people don't even bother to include geldings in their search for new horses. A large portion of this game's users train, compete, breed, then retire their horses in the same cycle every generation.
I'm not going to say that non-breedable horses have no value on the market (especially if they have high stats), but I can almost guarantee that the best way to get a spayed mare into a new home is to just put her in the RC.

I will not be using the feature like SueHeck had said, but as long as people understand the possible consequences, then I'm okay with it.

I can't completely agree with Blodwyn for one reason, ignoring geldings in the RC is easy. It doesn't really matter how 'polluted' the market is, it's just excess horses, easy to ignore. Spaying would be used to protect lines so you can save space. When you want to get rid of a horse, you generally want to get rid of it now, and horses take a while to die, so you might not be able to get that new horse from another player because of it. Then you accidentally feed it and it lasts longer. It's not an immediate practice, hence why people want spaying. It's also cruel in some people eyes to just kill off horses, pixel or not. Being able to spay and stick in the RC is an immediate answer. It allows you to get rid of the horse quickly.

If you don't want spayed mares, don't buy them from people or the RC. Simple as that. Some people do want them though. People play this game for multiple reasons, and some people just like saving RC horses, with no intention of ever breeding them. I have already met players who do this. It fulfills the fantasy they want with the game. So to those players, a nice, fancy colored gelding or, if implemented, spayed mare, is a good find. Just because it doesn't fit your way of playing, doesn't make it nobody's way of playing.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm attacking you, I'm not. I'm just trying to explain my side of things. I get that spaying wouldn't help everyone, but I don't really see how it would hurt anyone either. You are not going to suddenly be forced to buy spayed mares, just as you are not forced to buy geldings. You just ignore them.

I actively buy low statted stallions and geld them. Why? You can shove them into riding schools and make money. Same deal can be used for spayed mares.

I'd rather be able to spay and dump the fillies that don't fit my breeding program than have to wait for them to die of starvation, all while taking up valuable horse slots. If someone is able to use said spayed mare as an EXP farm, more power to them.

I buy geldings to gain Member EXP to get myself to level 30 faster. :) But only if they can be shown. I'd buy good spayed mares if they could be shown. I've got plenty of horse spaces for some extra horses. :)

If the main purpose of spaying is getting rid of unwanted horses ... why not just suggest being able to delete horses like we could in the old version?

Then I like the idea of deleting them better indeed. That way you won´t be able to see all these ponies that would have been great to breed with... but are gelded (or in this case spayed).

Just like the overlooking the geldings in the market. I'm anoyed when I use the horse search, there's no way to deselect geldings, since I'm normally scouting for both mares and stallions. Then I'd have to search sex seperarely. Is going to get worse if you get spayed mares as well.

Kuk (& Feathered Gold), why not just buy that (low statted) horse and use for riding school, showing, EXP. pointing anyways? It's not that they ride/show better after being gelded.
And if they are low statted, few people are tempted to breed them anyways. With the not breeding until lvl 6 rule, most people have gotten to nicer/better horses and gotten more familiar to the game to breed those horses.

I agree with dratini. I would rather have an option to just straight out delete horses then have them gelded/spayed and take up space that I would use for breeding.

Why would I pay money to geld/spay just to drop them in the RC to get nothing out of them? As i normally don't use the gelding feature, I wouldn't know what the going price of geldings are at the moment since I really don't utilize them.

1 simple reason:

I may have lots of horse space, but I do not always have the time to work with so many foundation horses at one time, and not all of them can be shown. Out of 50+ foundations horses I have locked aside at the moment, only about 15-20 can be shown, though most are in Dressage at the moment, being fed Hay Cubes, and later on will convert them to their correct discipline.

I am a Senior at my university and super busy; fixing to graduate, need to find a job, and start paying back my loans.

In all, I have over 300 horses on this account, trying to age out the older ones, and when I do; will unlock my other horses to work with again. I just couldn't handle showing/entering into riding schools over 125+ horses at once. Took way too much time.

*Dang! I forgot I was on my Paint/Appaloosa/Quarter Horse account!
But, since I am only working with less than 50 horses on my Feathered Gold Account, I have time to work with my Appaloosas; which I love their awesome patterns! ♥

I don't know if my answer fits here or not, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents, normally I am a silent reader on here :)

For keeping the lines clean and not wanting to let the horses die off in the breeder's own stable, would it be somehow possible to create an "official" account with unlimited horse space where breeders can send their unwanted mares(and stallions and perhaps geldings) to?
Of course, selling from this account should not be possible(as well as financial profit for the breeders) and the horses could be deleted after a while on a regular and fixed schedule(with records kept) but I don't know if that is possible to realize or not.

(Sorry if this idea has already been brought up! ^.^ )
