Riding School or Showing?

#79165 Posted on 2016-12-11 06:50:55

I'm just curious how you many of you guys put your horses in riding school and how many show your horses. I recently found that my showing horses gained anywhere from 35-60 stats a week and my riding school gained 45-76 stats a week. I think most of them use the same treats so that's not a factor. What do you guys think, should I just put all my horses in riding school?

I do riding school for horses who aren't within 10 stats of their next showing lvl (i.e. a horse with 145 stats is N1, 5 stats from N2 that horse would get shown) however a horse with 645 stats (which is R1, 55 stats from R2) would not be shown.

I also have my "Just Here to Compete" horses (most of which are geldings) that enter shows everyday, because I don't care about stat gain with them.

I also hand enter most of my horses so that they are in shows with less than 4 of my other horses and that have 5 or more entries.

a horse's showing potential will depend heavily on (1) how high their stats are for their grade and (2) how many non-specialty stats they have. The first will change constantly, so how a decision on whether to show a horse or put it in riding school that day will also be in flux.

I show all my horses that are within 10% of the top of their grade, assuming they have less than 75 non-specialty stats. Those horses have gained up to 15 stats in a single day of showing.

My horses with more than 75 non-specialty stats are always entered in riding school (unless they're something like 1 stat point away from being at the top of their grade, which does happen occasionally)

Using this method, my foundations gain an average of 40-60 stats a week, which is more than decent.

My system for deciding that is actually pretty complicated, so short answer: both.

I have a bunch of "grade" horses who aren't used for breeding only making me money at the riding school.

And other horses, my own personal lines, that I show, all the time. At least when I have them unlocked. x)
