Show off your minimalistic characters

It's pretty common to see quite complex characters, but I know there's quite a few of us with characters whose design is so simple it would be impossible to sell (if we could bear to part with them, of course): little in the way of markings, often no add-ons, that sort of thing. But we love them to bits anyway.

So, introduce me to your simple characters - the ones you love not for their looks but something else, and tell me what makes them so special.


I'll start off... This tall, dark and handsome boy is Anubis. He's a solid black draft horse stallion, of my own design. Something like a Clydesdale build. His only distinctive markings are his white crescent and his yellow eyes. Frankly, it's hard to put my finger on just why I adore him so much. Perhaps it's because he embodies so many of my favourite horse traits, perhaps it's his strong and regal bearing. Regardless, I think he's beautiful, and utterly love him. :)

I got this bab custom made by Wey. I know she's simple, but I wanted a seal brown racehorse, so here she is.


Got Rutabaga (don't ask) here from Valzed when I was on my search for natural characters. I asked that her coat color was edited a bit to look more natural, and so this is what she looks like now! She's suppose to be a Belgian, but that's a bit obvious lol


Last, but certainly not least, my first I-have-a-ref character, Black Heart (BH for short). I have many other OCs for fandoms and such that I created first, but he's my first pixel character. His design is based off a Breyer horse, hence why I no longer use him for art, but I still love him. I actually have the Breyer horse at my house!
What I really love about this guy is how much development he's been through. He existed in my character story's first plot, when all of them were in the same world. Like, cutesy party ponies with demigods and such. Yikes! His personality has also since changed. I first saw him as being a very daring and fast racehorse, which he still is/was to preserve that time period. But, after he retired (still pretty young, as he was a racehorse), he became less gruff and arrogant. He's now more observant, smart, and calculating. He can get bossy, but only when the other character is putting them all in danger by doing what they're doing. He's also pretty impatient, but he's a TB, so I guess it runs in the blood lol
His body type is more tall and lanky than the ref, but I didn't specify which lines, so that's okay. I actually like this ref because it is by my friend SP, who quit with the recode.

Mare and Foal
I got these two in a last minute sale I found and just had to have the mare! The foal was a mystery and I was very pleased on how this litttle colt looked once revealed. Who doesn't love a good dapple grey?!

And this lovely boy I got in a sale with three others. He just stood out to me because I LOVE horses who look like this, he's hafliger looking to me, and I just had to have him in my herd.

I got this one from FluffShady. I'm not attached to it at all because I just dont find the color appealing to me and it's currently for sale if anyone is interested.

I love this ones color and he slightly reminds me of a stocky barrel horse so I just had to have him.

This horse is basically my very first Cherrie. I can't bare to get rid of him cause my best friend Laney made him when she was just starting off and he holds so many memories for me.

This is Quest - I purchased his original design as a tag sized piece of art, but then I tweaked him very, very slightly. I love chestnuts with lots of chrome, so he'll always be my favourite despite being very simple:


Next is Blue - he's the first blue roan I ever made for myself. Inspired by a fat blue roan I rode once at a horse camp. I did add in paint markings though because I also love Paints:


But my absolute fave is Aelin - chestnut, paint, and chrome, ahhh. I made her myself:

Spunky was one of the very first things I did in digital art, so of course she holds a special place in my heart.

Pippen
Pippen was a custom I had made, but I can't for the life of me remember who made him. I know they haven't been active for awhile (or they changed their name/haven't been forum active) and were popular before the recode. Pippen was based on Lord of the Rings and is cherished highly by me.

@Oswin: Pippen would be by Pattie, I'm not sure what her user is currently but thats what I know her by aha ^-^

I think tragician. used to go by pattie, not sure.
