I know I've had a topic like this before, but I couldn't find it. So anyways, I only have about 65k at the moment and I want to start up a few pairs of who knows what. xD

I want to breed for color and conformation first then focus on stats later on.

So, What breed of horses should I breed? and any tips/ideas?

Quarter horses and gypsy vanners are more popular breeds, making breeding and selling easier, while mustangs have a smaller group breeding them, if this makes a difference to you.

From personal experience, Trying to sell Chestnut Friesians is fairly hard to do. So I don;t really recommend it if you want to have steady income, lols. (I used to breed them frequently on my other accounts)

TBs have gorgeous art, and more colors than people commonly think (still not very many, but a lot more than Arabs, as an example).
Plus more people to buy rare TBs from is a plus for me ;D

I'm personally partial to Mustangs, though I breed Arabians and Trakehners as well. I love the color options (and thus the art -squeal-) for them. I've also noticed that they certainly sell better than the other two breed I have as well.

Question: Around how many pairs should I start with if I'm currently just breeding for color and conformation?
I'm gonna have separate pairs for color and separate pairs for confo.

most people do 4, 8, 16, or 32 horses to start (or 2, 4, 8, or 16 pairs).

Personally I like to do 16 or 32 horses to start just cause; but for some lines I go as far as starting with 64 horses.

I typically breed heterozygous to heterozygous (i.e. Zz to Zz) and dominant homozygous to recessive homozygous (i.e. ZZ to zz) this has the possibility to maintain desired genes longer in your lines.
