Weird White Paint

#73787 Posted on 2016-10-29 15:04:44

I used a coat Randomizer on a Paint and got a white. So now (sigh) I don't know what I have. Can someone shed some light? I'm thinking its undesirable.

You now have a paint... that is white...

White is a color, much like black or chestnut or bay. But white markings don't really show up on a white horse, and it covers up any other coloration, so some people find it undesirable.

Revealing the genotype can be very helpful in situations like this to help you know what the horse can pass on to it's offspring and to know how desirable/undesirable the horse is.

W+ might actually be desirable on paints because some breeders are working toward paints without paint markings (so ++ for the kit gene).

What color was the solid foal, and what color was it's mom? If it's not the exact color of the mom, then maybe that can help you figure it out.
