Best Age For Breeding?

I have a collection of foundies that are approaching their midlife stages now. They are all twelve, aging tomorrow, and I have no idea when to breed them! I'm planning to have three foals from each. Does that mean... I start breeding now...?
When is the best age to breed to ensure that the mares can have that amount of foals before they die?

I plan to breed mares (also plan 3 foals each from them) @ 12, 16 and 20. Hopefully I can show some restraint and actually stick to my own plan! :) I am new to EV, just joined EV tho.. so I probably shouldn't even weigh in on this

Each mare can be bred once a week - they will be pregnant with the foal for five days, and then there's a two day wait period before they can be bred again.

All horses retire on the day they turn 21, at which point they are too old to be bred (or to show, etc.) However, there is no harm in a mare being pregnant after she retires, and since all horses die when they turn 22, there's no risk that she could die before having the foal, so don't worry about that.

So if you want to maximize stats, and breed as late as possible, you can breed them the day before they turn 21 (the absolute last day possible), the day before they turn 20, and the day before they turn 19.

That's my preferred strategy, though if you would like to breed them earlier, that's certainly your choice. Since my goal is stats, waiting as long as possible gives them the most possible.

If you want three foals with the highest stats possible you can also breed them the day before they turn 21, use the Gestation Rush and the Breed Again Solution and then re-breed them again, then repeat the process. However that would be really, really expensive (12 EVC per mare for three foals the day before they turn 21). Stallions can be bred immediately so they won't need any EVC if you were to do this.

I do what Only the Wind said personally; but thought I'd throw out another option for you. ;)
