Stats vs. Conformation vs. Color

#72534 Posted on 2016-10-19 11:22:41

Okay, I know some people prefer to breed their horses for high stats, while others prefer to breed for great conformation, and still others prefer to breed for color.

Whatever you like to do, it's fine!!! This is Equiverse, where every player can breed to his/her desire however they want for their horses.

Me personally?? I like to do a mixture of all three!!! I love high stats, great conformation, and color; but color is kinda my last criteria for a good horse, as I can always breed that in later on, or use a color randomizer. ;)

I am willing to buy a horse/s who have wonderful conformation, but may not have the best stats, as stats can be added on throughout the horse's life, while conformation cannot. :)

Just my two cents.

My two cents:

I love color so I will pounce on a good colored horse even it it has low stats or conformation. However I generally try to breed horses so that I don't get a bad result in any of the criteria.

My criteria are color > stats > conformation but good color + good stats + good conformation = a dream come true.

I love that in this game people can focus on whatever goal they want; that freedom is one of my favorite parts of equiverse.

I agree but I figure that color can be added on; while conformation cannot. :) I try to be more concerned about conformation than even stats; which is really hard. ;)

I breed stats first, then color. Conformation I don't really care about. If a horse has good confirmation awesome, if not but it makes up with great stats and cool color then awesome. :)

Stats, colour, confo.

Saying that I try not to buy anything with below 50, and I try to breed to higher conf horses.

Color, confo, stats...

basically just color, really.
Stats are "eh" for me, because I like purdy horses. And confo is hard, because you can't change it, so I refuse to do that. I only like confo because I had this 89 average stud that was dialing in 13k per foal. He died today...

I breed TBs and Chincos for color on here, and QHs for color on my spare!

Confo, color, stats - in that order

I do everything I can to boost stats during a horse's lifetime and breed only at 18+, so I literally pay no attention to it when pairing. Plus I pair of horses as 0 years olds based on confo, so I literally don't even think about it :)

I breed for stats first, then colour and lastly confo. A nice balance of the 3 would be great ..my focus is mainly on stats and stat spread above all else

Personally on all three of my breeding accounts i have always bred for color and stats. I am thinking of getting into the high confo part of breeding but i always find myself getting very pleased when a gorgeously colored foal with 200+ stats is born. Also i have noticed that in my personal lines my foals have been born with 60+ confo which is quite thrilling!

I love seeing what of you breed for and i hope to maybe one day even partner up with a few of you for a breeding!

Conformation is my long-term goal, and the one I match all my breeding pairs by. :) Stats and color are on even footing, although I generally insist on horses being bred to other horses of same discipline. I shoot for foals with 400+ stats at birth. I get super excited if a foal is at least 2 of the three. :)

Ducky brings up a great point - I always pair horses by discipline. The disadvantage of cross-discipline bred foals in the show ring is significant and I don't want that in my lines since I like winning ;)

Exactly! Mind you, I've got a handful that I'm breeding to re-adjust the inter-discipline stats on, partially because I bought them for their genetics and confo...and *ahem* was hasty with a no-breed (kicking myself for making her a GV instead of an Appy, oh well). Those are my very pretty Riding School horses LOL

I do stats, then colour, but before colour comes patterns. I'm striving for Roans. Roans, and duns are love.
Conformation doesn't matter. Though i'll watch it as i breed.

but the top influencer is stat levels. If it's an awesome color with the patterns i like, i still wouldnt buy if the stats werent 'decent' enough to build on at an appropriate age imo.

I am starting with foundation miniature horses but will breed for
1. stats
2. conf
3. color
I am not holding my breath for color since the "created" from equine center tend to give black, gray, bay and chestnut. I do buy foundations dumped in the rescue as long as they are "racing" or no special picked yet. I am going to try for a personal line of racing minis.

question: ... can foundation horses poor conformations be corrected by pairing with good conformation?

@ teebow - Yes. If you pair your horses with other horses with good conformation, eventually you'll get foals with decent conformation. Word of advice, don't go for any miniatures that have less than 55 conformation, as people aren't too crazy about horses below 50 conformation.

Well, me anyway. Can't speak for anybody else. :)
