I think the 2nd one looks more natural and the gait looks less forced.

I like the first one better, simply because the second one is more frequently done and I find it boring lol
Also the legs on the first look slightly more in alignment with the body and more realistic in hitting the ground, which makes sense since you used a reference.

Both are good lines though, nice job with them.

I like 2 the best... simply because it looks more natural I think, in line form at least.

The front right leg on 1 just looks wonky to me... I know that it's based off the reference picture where the horse is in mid-stride, but it just stands out to me. It may look better once it's shaded, but as is right now I still much prefer 2.

EDIT: Maybe it's the fetlock that bugs me. >.> If it was just a tad smaller and less ummm 'knobby' then I might like it better.
