Neglecting Horses

So I have a question that the guides and stuff don't answer just yet. So I figured I'd post here and see if I get the answer.

If I were to not take care of my horses. Would they eventually die or be surrendered to the rescue center?

If so, at what point does that happen? (i.e when happiness reaches 0 or hunger reaches 30% etc)

Yes, they would eventually die if you don't feed them.

You get a notification to warn you that you better feed them or they will die. I believe it is 7 days straight of not caring for a horse.

Also, you can lock your account (upper left of Town page) if you plan on not logging in for a bit.

So they don't get a chance to go to the rescue center then and be saved?

Nope, they will just die after enough time going uncared for. If you want them to go to the rescue center you have to put them there manually.

That sucks. I see some really nice horses about to die because of neglect then. Shame they will be lost because they are premium horses of their breed.

Also I think that's really messed up and morbid. There should be a rescuing cron lol. Like in real life. ASPCA or animal control seizes your horses and stuff.

There used to be a script that sent neglected horses to the RC.

We strive for realism, hence death by neglect was introduced.

The thing about sending neglected horses to the RC is that sometimes the horses were neglected because of something the owner could not control, such as being in the hospital. They wouldn't get to their horses for a while, the horses would be put in the RC, and someone else would adopt them up. Then the original owner gets out of the hospital, and goes and checks on their horses, and they're gone, with no way to get them back.

Now, the horses just die. But there is a way to revive them. It's pricey, but if you are willing to pay the price, you can have your horses back. You can even save up for it over time. You don't lose all the hard work you put into the horses, and someone else doesn't get to snap up all your best horses for a song, just because you had an emergency in real life.
