@Raptorfang - That's....exactly what I did lol. I knew it looked kind of off but was happy that I even got it to look the way I did, so didn't really care to fix it.

@Cab - I have definitely been using a lot of tutorials XD

Otherwise, I have something new for you guys! I made my own precut this time. Any advice? (I am completely aware his hind area still looks a little choppy, but I have worked and worked on it and can't really get it the way I want.)

original image

I cut him out, repainted his bangs, repainted part of the tail and made it kinda curly (i know the end is blended out really badly, but don't really know what else to do with it), darkened the buckskin-ish color, smoothed out parts of his muscle, repainted the entire face markings including the pink part of the nose, and made his eye blue.

Thoughts? Advice? The precut also looks really choppy against a completely white background, on any other background it looks fine, so keep that in mind :D

And this is my finished manip:

I truly couldn't be happier with the way it came out. Yes, there are a lot of things that could be improved, but I feel like I really made this myself, and am proud of it. My first manip I posted didn't involve a lot of editing because I was just playing around, but I'm super happy with the way this one came out, especially because this was my first time repainting anything AND working with water. Those ripples were killer o.o

So, here's a list of things I'm proud of:
- the outline of the horse
- the 2 hind legs and their reflections
- the repainting of the horse (especially the tail, look how cute the curls look!)
- how well the ripples came out for my first try

and here's a list of things I KNOW need work:
- making the horse a little less bright
- the front 2 legs' reflections
- more work on the ripples

I actually LOVE those ripples!
Something else cool you could try would be to darken the horse a bit, like you said, and then putting light rays on his neck ad head where that light is shining through!

Thank you! I was actually surprised with how well they turned out, as I didn't even really know how to go about getting them there XD

For some reason, I can never make the horse dark enough to match the background. I even tried lightening the background but, idk :/

Try making the horses a little bigger, too. They are a bit too small for my liking, really takes away any detail and leaves a lot of empty space. Great job on your second try though!

I agree with how small they are. I'm pretty bad at picking horses and backgrounds that are sized good enough to be put together lol. I think I'll try another one today and do a closer up type manip this time.

Here's another precut I finished. This one took me 1.5 hours and I'm really happy with it.

What advice does anyone have as far as repainting eyes/hooves/manes/tails/body goes?

How much for a custom one? I don't have a lot to spend, but your manips are so amazing now that you've got some practice!

Hmm, I'm not sure! I have a free manip thing going on right now for some practice, and I JUST finished one of the slots, so I can put you in the third slot if you'd like?
