Trying to make online art

#66178 Posted on 2016-09-08 22:43:45

Hi, I'm working on trying to learn to do online art. I'm not the greatest yet, but would like to work on getting better. I am only using my laptops pad and gimp, so I don't have the best resources yet. Any suggestions of cheaper (drawing mouse pads? I'm not sure what they are called) or a better cheap or free online photoshop of short would be appreciated. Any tips on how to make mine better would also be appreciated. Yes the lining and the coloring are both done by me. The lines are old though, at least the drawing is, and they are not all that original. I've seen others similar. You don't have to worry about being to rude. It's really hard to upset me. I like blunt honesty the best. Thanks for any advice.

I can't quite figure out the linking. I've tried it on my page, I'm not sure where to add my url and what links ect, so I hope this is right

With links it would be [*url] yourlink [/*url] but remove the spaces and stars and add a web thingy where it says yourlink! Hope this helps! :D

I would suggest getting free-to-download horse coat brushes from an art site, like DeviantArt. They are just like regular brushes that you "paint" with, but they are shaped like dapples, appaloosa spots, and more. :)

I just wanna say that GIMP is an actually good program to work with even though it does have a tenancy to glitch/act up every now and then, and you don't have to have a drawing tablet however Wacom is a popular brand of tablets and the one I had ( wacom bamboo fun pen and touch) lasted almost 4 years of everyday use till it finally gave up on me last year.

Now as far as you're art goes it actually looks pretty good. I would look up tutorials on how to use Layers and on how to manipulate the brush settings in GIMP. If you get good enough you won't really have to download any brushes however it doesn't hurt to get some.

I'm pretty sure that GIMP can download photoshop brushes (.abr) but I'm not certain so I'd advise looking that up as well. Good luck in you're arting endeavor!
