guess who fell off today? yep- L decided to throw me twice today in my lesson x.x she's never intentionally tried to hurt me before and this is the first time I've ever fallen off of her.  I'm kicking myself thinking back on it because I totally could've handled it but I just didn't expect it from her.  ahh ponies.  thankfully, I'm not injured that badly, just put a dent into my confidence and I think I re-pulled the muscles in my back, but I'm not sure.

The joys of training a stubborn greenie.

So how have your guys ponies/horses been lately? Hopefully better than L’

I was riding my grandma's horse, Hollywood, on Friday, and almost fell of. My grandpa was roping with a friend and I was riding and chasing the steers back into the walkway. Well, since HW is a trained horse, and I had just begun to ride him, I didn't expect him to turn so hard. He turned with the cow and I went flying forward. Didn't fall though, thank goodness! But it really shows he's a trained cutting horse.

Ugh.

Today's bath attempt was just horrible. My guy is two, so he's already pretty nervous when it comes to squishing into a little wash stall, especially because he knows that it's a wash stall, but usually he's pretty good about being coaxed into it. Today, he wasn't having it. He wasn't acting bad or bratty, but he was just more unsure of it than usual. I had to try three times before I could get him to stay in the wash stall long enough to clip the cross ties on, and I could only get him in using treats, which I never usually have to use treats to get him to do anything. He doesn't like baths, but tolerates them and acts as sane as a two year old would, and he was fine with the whole water part, but getting him into that stall is just the trickiest thing ever apparently. Idk. He also stepped on me twice, which, usually doesn't hurt because he's barely above pony height right now, but he got me right on the side of my foot in between my heel and the ball of my ankle, which hurt.

Fawkes decided to break both her fly mask and her breakaway halter (thankfully the breakaway is fixable obviously). She needed the fly mask to protect her sarcoid, but I guess we'll just be letting that go as the vet will be removing it come "no fly season".

-waves goodbye to the $60 that just went down the drain-

And Fawkes is doing superb, minus she's getting a little bratty to catch as she went from no work ever to working 4 days a week.

lolol This very green mare I'm working with spooked when she decided to ignore my leg to step away from the rail, my foot ended up brushing/getting caught on it and she freaked out a bit. I ended up in the dirt and got to spend the next hour and a half desensitizing her to the fence again just so I could hop on and leave it on a note where I came off her back of my own will :P

On the plus side, I can now mount her from the rail :D
