Getting back into equine gaming

Hi all, now that I got up to level three I thought I would say hello. I used to play on Equintium before it went down. My username was Horsesdontlie and I bred mostly Quarter Horses. I'm trying to breed quarter horses again to try this game out.

I am still trying to figure this place out as its a bit different from what I'm used to. Looks like people are more into breeding than showing?

I also for the life of me can not figure out the layouts. Can you do HTML/CSS or is it only BBcode?

Hi! welcome to EV! as for layouts, deluxe members use HTML for their layouts, and basic members can only use BBcode.

EV definitely revolves around breeding, whether it be for stats, colors, or conformation (generally in that order as far as popularity goes though there is more of an interest on conformation now that it's been updated). Showing is for gaining stats though it works best paired with training and using riding schools when the horse is on the lower end of it's show grade.

Most people focus on stats but since the highest gain for stats when breeding is when the horse is about to retire, this becomes a rather slow paced game. Which is something I appreciate ^-^

I was going to say the same things that Eliza's already covered.
Breeding is central, but since horses have such long lives (21 weeks), showing them is often a large component as well as a big money maker. Riding Schools is an alternate to showing, with guaranteed money if you're less inclined to play the odds (or have horses at the bottom of their grade that you know aren't ready to compete yet!)

I might take a while, but I'm sure I'll figure it out in time. The genetics is a huge chunk that I'm going to need to look up on, it would be cool to get some of the rare colors.

Another question, if anyone can help with. I entered 24 of my horses into 10 shows yesterday, and today It says my horses are not entered in any now but I'm pretty sure nothing happened. No stat, exp or money change for anything. Did I do something wrong?

You didn't do anything wrong, cron didn't run correctly for some reason this morning so nobody has their show results. Hopefully it will be back to normal tomorrow.
