alright. I HAD TO DO THIS.

can we please take time to appreciate all of us who have improved their artwork SO much?! i was crawling around my old artwork on dA *shudder* and am amazed from how much better i got. especially with all the help from you guys!

so, i joined EV when i was 11 years old. youngster, yeah, i know. my equiversary already passed for my four years! my first account was my spare, btw. anyway. when i joined, i was introduced to this amazing art community and learned how to do digital art.

let me say i'm sorry for you all dealing with my terrible artwork back then but still encouraging me to continue and improve. and i did.

so, thank you all so much. so much. really.

2012 to yesterday

let me see your improvement! i'm seriously genuinely curious lol

I haven't been doing much digital art recently and don't have track records nearly as long as some of you but I do have about a years worth of improvement on Equiverse. I used to play a different game and did mostly manips and digital paintings (without greyscales, what you painted was what you got). I stopped playing for about 3 years, came back and didn't like the updates so I came here and basically started all over again.
Also, I took AP art in high school and started playing this game last year at the age of 24.

Sometime last year. Not my lines but I colored it... xD

I did the lines a few days ago and the greyscale I started yesterday... If anyone has any good hair tips... please help. I use GIMP and Krita. D:

I love these threads, it's really cool seeing where everyone started and see how far they have come!
I started traditional and digital in 2008, though since my lines were....uh.... well, just look below. I used a lot of free lines and such for digital work.
Prepare yourselves for a crap ton of pics lolol

You're gonna love this beauty! Warning: you may want to shield your eyes.

2010
Actually learned some anatomy, whew!

late 2010, early 2011? something.
yay for no references!

Current:
Still pushing the anatomy as well as really exploring different perspectives

WIP^

Digital Paintings
2008
First two ever done ^-^ The first was just experimenting with minimal shading before jumping in.

2009??
lineart by a player named Bumbally on howrse. it was for a contest, not sure if that player is still around -shurgs-
highlighter colors ftw

2010 ish
I FINALLY FREAKING FOUND IT
this was my last work ever done completely with a mouse.
Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't make something decent with GIMP and a mouse cause that ain't true.
lines by Buckethead

Near the beginning of 2011 I went on hiatus and started up again in 2013, but didn't really get back into it until 2014 when I joined EV :3

A little context first . . . I've been able to traditionally draw things from real life or photos for a while (see below):

(this is from a sketchbook I worked on in 2011)

And I have been drawing things on paper since before I could write, but I was never very experienced in or good at digital art (besides photomanipulations) before joining EV. I really had no idea what I was doing. So here are two old gross things both from 2014.

And now newer equivalent things both from this year:

Practice might not ever make 'perfect' (cause frankly I think perfect is an ideal rather than an achievable goal), but it does make improvement. c:

2015 When I started to get into backgrounds

Newest stuff... but I need to work on my horses a lot, still.. -.-
