I so wish I hadn't wasted five credits on a coat applicator for Goody. :/ He was a bay, thought perhaps I could put the flaxen gene on him, but didn't realize that wasn't possible, so now I'm five credits short, and very annoyed with myself. *sighs*

You can choose the base color for the horse of your choice, as long as it's allowed for the breed, but I also thought that the flaxen chestnut was also an option, not a dilution. I can't believe I was so stupid!!!

So how does the coat application work? You can't choose any dilutes? Only the base color like bay, chestnut, black?

No, there are dilutes available depending on the breed. Cremello, moreno, palomino, etc. What I don't think is available on the coat apppicator is choosing whether or not the horse carries the silver, pangere, and/or flaxen genotype or phenotype. You CAN choose those when you create a custom horse (if memory serves me correct). I made a custom double dilute Andalusian mare who is homozygous for Silver, for instance.

Yeah, the coat applicator is strictly for setting the coat colour, and does not have any control over any overlying markings etc. It does not change anything that would 'sit on top of' the coat colour, so to speak.
