So, how do I begin? The game is completely changed. Not a bad thing at any means, but challenging for sure. And we need to adapt.

COATS: I've been breeding mustangs since the beggining and some of them changed coats being transferred to the new version. Also, some new coats were added. What are the popular coats now? The ones you're trying to achieve? What to avoid?

CONFORMATION: I also tried to select the horses with the best possible traits on the old version but now I see some of them have a couple poor traits and everyone will avoid them of course. How much does it matter to you? What's the minimum you find acceptable?

STATS: How much does it matter to you? How much stats does a horse has to be to be considered a good one?

PEDIGREE: Thoughts about bloodlines?

And more importantly, among all things, what will you be foccusing on now? Coat? Traits? Stats? Foundation/store horses? Are you gonna start again from scratch?

Let's chat about it, mustang breeders?

I'm starting from "scratch" (as in, I had a ton of foundation horses, but kept only those without white patterns since i really dislike the way they look on the new breed art)

I'm going to go mostly for stats and color. I'm debating conformation since, like you said, what were moderately well conformed horses on the old site now have a lot of "poors" :(

I mostly wanted to start with stores because of how long the pedigrees of some mustangs are, and I know they'll end up with blank/deleted horses because of inactive players not importing their accounts. starting fresh avoids that!

Yep, starting from scratch seems the way to go.
I have a very good foundation horse (700-ish stats, 4 perfect traits) locked in my old account, I guess I'll bring her back and start from there.

Also you made a really good point about pedigree. Some horses will just have a mystery background and it will be smart to avoid that!

edit: lemme be more specific

COATS: I don't know whats considered 'rare' or valuable. I only know I value Cream and silver. side note: I don't like how sabino looks anymore...I miss fleabitten grey (although love how greys will age into grey)

CONFORMATION: I really don't want any horse under 60% but will keep them as low as 45% provided they have 500+ stats, I probably won't buy any below 60% either.

STATS: I don't breed until 400+ anymore and that's for stores so buying a horse from someone else I would want 500+ stats OR a nice color combo/conformation

PEDIGREE: I don't really know what to think about pedigree because I don't think all horses have been imported and the pedigree page isn't available just yet. Seems like a lot of horses should just be considered clean since you can't see deceased horses with no record. (so it seems)

I'm not starting from scratch and will continue with stats and colors with the horses I've already had. Some of their bloodlines are now deceased but oh well. (I will probably start a few foundation horses for new blood but it would be no different from my play style before)

Also I've had several horses come out better conformation wise than what they were before so I'm ok with that. :)

COATS In general I like the new breed art look, but I´m going to avoid some white patterns (I´m not sure if the artist ever saw a tobiano or overo... they look really awful and unrealistic, just white round patches here and there... ugly). And I am a bit dissapointed Leopard complex was not added. I´ll make my own custom art I think.

CONFORMATION: It was never important to me. Maybe now I´ll focus some more, but nothing decisive. Just to introduce some new factors... I don´t really care about conformation.

STATS: The higher, the better. Always with clean lines. I prefer lower stats but clean lines rather than high stats but inbreeding.

PEDIGREE: No inbreeding. And no broken lines. I´m not worried about my mustang lines as most of all come from my own lines (or my partner lines) so they are safe.

And more importantly, among all things, what will you be foccusing on now? Coat? Traits? Stats? Foundation/store horses? Are you gonna start again from scratch?

I´m gonna continue with my Mustangs (still have to import my main accout) and I created some Foundation Mustangs to refresh the lines because I had to use some special items I still had... so I´ll focus on them. I´ll try to cut a bit my main lines and introduce fresh blood. My horses are not inbreed but it´s getting difficult to pair them now... So I got some interesting stores.

It's interesting to see how everyone is gonna foccus on something different. I really wanna see how our horses will be in a couple months.

I believe 70 is the minimium ideal for me but I won't just throw away horses around 60 with very good stats.

About coats, I don't know what I want anymore. Some coats that I loved turned ugly and some coats I didn't like at all are now super pretty.

Nikki, i totally know what you mean about favorite coat colors changing :P

i used to adore tobiano and overo, but not on this new breed art.
i also loved silvers and roans, but now they look really strange.

i'm sticking with solids, splash, and sabino, and then probably cream genes in the future!

We are on the same page then, ᴋᴀʜᴢɪᴇ.
I loved silvers and flaxen chestnuts (so hard to breed, I was so proud of them...), but I don't like them now. Also the overo was kinda disappointing. Some roans look like fleabitten greys, so I'm gonna change the foccus. :(
I love the new cream and champagnes, though. The seal brown too... Really pretty.
I still like sabino and I think the splash markings look awesome!
Guess we're all changing now lol.

Just to be sure, you're starting over partially to avoid the deceased horses in the pedigree because of some players not importing horses. I wasn't sure deceased lines mattered too much.
I'll have to start my lines over if that'd the case. I just rescued a few from the RC with broken lines. Not too much of a biggie, better start now.

I like everything Insipid Princess said and that matches my plan, now knowing yalls preferences on broken.

I'm so glad I'm not alone on the white markings and colours... some of my pride and joy babies are not at all what they used to look like which sucks (since I loved them for their colours!). I have most of my nicer horses locked right now as I don't love how the showing system is working and I don't want to miss out on them gaining stats.

I agree a lot with what Inspid has said, and you too, Nikki.

For the coats, I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about a lot of the colours so I'm not being picky. I'm trying to avoid the white markings though because I find them really unsightly.. I love the dark colours though, and I don't love the double roaning or silver. I don't really know what we'd consider rare coats anymore, I haven't looked around at many of the horses players mustangs. I loved the flaxens and silvers on the old version, and strived for those but I don't love how they look anymore. I won't completely avoid them though, they're just less of a priority now.

As for conformation, I'm paying more attention to it now. I want horses with 60/70+, though that might change when I get more familiar with the new version of the game. I think 60/70 in general is a good range, as it's above "average". Nothing is being bred unless they're 450+ stat.

Not sure what to do about pedigrees since I still have a lot of blanks. I'm still straying away from line breeding/inbreeding of course. I have a ton of new foundation horses I'm working on right now to try and introduce some new blood. I'm too attached and have spent way too much time into some of the other horses to start new, haha. But I think getting some new blood in the lines is not a bad idea at all. I don't love holes in the pedigrees but like I said, there's just some I can't part with. As of right now, my focus is going to be stats and conformation. Even if I don't love a lot of the colours, I'm not going to be too selective there because they might grow on me with time!

I was so excited for the recode, and as an avid mustang breeder prior to it, I was looking forward to the new challenges that would be presented with the recode.

When we got here and I saw the changes in coat patterns and colors, I sold nearly half of my stock. In my personal opinion, the patterns are really... ugly. Not meant to be offensive, but literally the paint patterns, including the roaning, are really unappealing to me. I won't be breeding any patterned mustangs if I can help it. I also really really dislike the flaxen palominos and chestnuts. The only colors I like now are solid regular bases or champagnes. I don't even really like the duns, and for that reason, I sold a huge bit of my stock and started over with different breeds. I like the other paint art ten times better, which I don't understand because it's like the mustang paint patterns were scribbled and rushed.

As far as stats go, they're very important to me since showing is a larger part of the game now.

I want to have the "perfect" mustang, so good color (no paint pattern), 80% or better conformation, and 500+ stat. One of my goals was to have a 1,000 stat mustang, but now, I think I'll be gearing towards doing that with a different breed.

I actually made my own art for when I reach level 30:

so, I'll be using my stuff!

here are my paint patterns

Sad to remember I used so many wands and coat randomizers to get palominos and flaxen chestnuts and now I don't like them at all. :(

And your art is BEAUTIFUL.

About the coats: I have no clue which coats are popular now and I don't care about the coats actually anymore. As you already said - coats have TOTALLY changed. Some coats I loved before have turned into... Well, whatever. :D I'm pretty pleased with the new mustang breed art I think. I miss fleabitten and dappled greys but the new "greying with age" thing is cool.

Well, I breed for conformation and stats. Confo actually matters pretty much to me, the minimum for me is probably 90+, but a horse which has like about 97 confo and 100-200 stats doesn't mean much to me. And stats mean A LOT to me. A horse is good for me if it has 95+ confo and 600+ stats.

Bloodlines should be clean... Well I'm pretty sad as I see one of my good horses with a "messy" pedigree...

Also, I'm actually pretty new player so some tips from more experienced mustang breeders are always welcome. :)

Also, it is heartbreaking to see that some good mustang players didnt import their accounts, so now some of my horses have "broken lines" even though I remember they had clean pedigrees.
