Pixel Tag

#32028 Posted on 2016-04-18 15:26:06

I made my first ever pixel tag. I want some critique on it so I know what I can improve on. Any advice on making the base would be helpful too.The program I use is Gimp. Thank you! ♥

Wow in paint? o.o

I'm not really one to help you with conformation as I'm terrible, but the nose maybe looks a bit small to me? Also, the forelock is floating :D

I would recommend GIMP if you don't have Photoshop for greyscaling etc. it's free and has a million more features than paint! I use PS so I couldn't tell you how to use it but I'm sure it will be useful :)

Thank you for the critique. I do have gimp so I will give that a try. I didn't even notice the forelock was floating.. lol XD. I will HAVE to fix that. I see what you mean about the nose. I spent so long trying to get it right!! Thanks again for the critique, your art is wonderful!! :)

The biggest problem I see is the fact that the lines aren't cleaned up. To see what I mean, I have a couple really old tutorials of mine that you can take a look through :) (I even have one specifically for MS paint that shows you how to greyscale, etc. Though my MS paint ways may have changed since then since it was made in 2008 o: )

MS paint tutorial

Next tutorial(this one is a bit newer.. It's pretty in depth)-

part one

part two

part three

part four

Let me know if you need anymore pixel help :D I love pixeling XD

Wow, on MS Paint! I need to check that out again XD

I think you should work on your conformation though :) The legs, the tail and mane are a bit meh :)

I agree with Magic. The head is a little out of proportion to the legs.

I think the problem is the legs. They seem a bit thick/big. I think that the head is proportional to the body, Misty, the legs are just making the head appear un-proportional. :) Anyways, thanks for the critique Misty and Magic is Awesome! ♥ I will definitely have to work on confirmation. :p

wow your base and lines look great! for the base i would just continue adding more shadows and highlights, then i would make the lines black and set them to overlay or a filter that looks good so that the lines blend in with the base. here's a great tutorial
