Flaxen Gene

#277129 Posted on 2025-01-16 11:01:42

So I bought a Flaxen tweak to mess around with but when I preview it on the horse I don't see a difference? I'm not sure whether to add ff, FF or Ff. Does anyone know? :)

I know that some horses I own that have double FF, it does not actually show on the breed as it's not compatible with the double FF or even the ff as it's not the appropriate or specific horse for it to gain flaxen.

I do also play around in the Horse Wardrobe, where the appropriate breed shows flaxen, like the shetties (I think) due to their breed being compatible with the gene and because it works like the silver gene, in my opinion, as does all the three types of flaxen.

Then again, I'm sure there's someone here that'll be better at explanations of Flaxen than I am.

Yep, double FF is not inheriting the flaxen and the 'Ff' is the carrier and won't show but its there in the genes, but that's only me since I care for the most none double ff horses.

But yeah, as mentioned before, flaxen works like silver and is pretty tricky to determine who's got what and/or inherited what got to who.

The horse wardrobe can be located in the general store, or what I used to remember seeing, I have it bookmarked in my tabs and I can link it for you.

Yes, flaxen is a recessive gene, so a horse needs to be ff to show it on chestnut based horses. Ff means it's a carrier of the gene, but not actually showing and FF means it doesn't have it.

FF means no flaxen
Ff it only carries, wont show
ff shows

HOWEVER, if the horse is black based (Bay, Black, Seal Brown etc) It will NOT show regardless.

Flaxen in this game is one of those genes that must be lower cased completely to be homozygous, whereas every other gene must be capitalized to be homozygous.
