I'm curious if anyone else has seen this

I used to ride and work with horses religiously between 2017-2020, and since Covid I've sort of taken a hiatus from the equine world both for financial reasons and also to get a grasp on what I wanted for my life. Well now it's 2024, and my life is pretty mellow and I have way too much of a schedule that is making me feel like I'm in a time loop and it's low-key depression lmaoo. So I was like, what better way to engage with the world than to get back with my fellow equestrians?

Apparently, they don't exist anymore. Or at least not as much as they used to. The barn I used to board at is basically a ghost town; there used to be a thriving community there and now it's just people who board their horses there and never talk to each other. Which vibes, I'm introverted and the same way, but without a horse what am I supposed to do if there's no community? Like I can't put $5,000 into buying a horse right now, so I was gonna look for leasing options and there's nothing. I dunno if I'm stupid or if the community has changed to more interpersonal, but I don't remember the equine industry being this dead and shut up from the world. I am struggling to find connections that'll help me slither my way back into even touching a horse loll.
Has anyone else seen this happen since Covid or is it just me? 

I'd imagine there's probably groups on reddit you could join for local horse groups? Maybe they've got horsie communities on there where you can meet new local people or find horses to lease c:

I'm not engaged, but the horse community is on Facebook, and although you aren't really supposed to sell live stock, you can find lots of horse sales on there - you didn't hear it from me 😉 

if you were close to me I'd say come ride my horses x3 They need work, they're fat and happy and sassy :P 

but with that I board, and ... I am one of the only owners who board there that are usually actively out there at any given time. It's been... at least 8 months since I've seen another owner there at all. 
but I love the stable owner and my horses adore her.
