You may or may not have noticed much less of my presence lately on EV. Well all sorts of things have been going on the past few months.

I've been doing more respite hours with the little girl I watch in order to help pay for increased board cost for my Sparkles and her buddy Donkey Shelby. I moved her in January because her laminitis had gotten really bad. She went from a pasture board to a facility with a heated barn and stall board. This made my board for her go up from $150/month to $630/month just for Sparkles. So I was paying over $800/month for board for both horses. Well Valentine is still at my sister's farm so I've had to divide time up between the two. Then our dog Kylo slipped on the ice towards the end of Feb. and slipped a disc in his back. This was a very touch and go time with his health as wel as extremely expensive(thankfully he is okay now). Then, beginning April we brought home a corgi puppy, putting us up to 4 dogs.I also started door dashing to make some extra cash for a new vehicle as well as saving up to buy a house. That is also taking up more of my time. On top of this I have been going to the chiropractor 3x a week for myself and physical therapy 2x a week. I've been completely exhausted.

So, now onto the current situation. The person who was leasing the barn where I moved Sparkles and Donkey Shelby to bought their own property where they did not have facilities to board horses at yet. The care they provided was absolutely amazing! They left end of March and the actual property owners took over and kept a few of us more "special need" cases as boarders. Things have been going okay but last Tuesday the owner called me to tell me Sparkles had been lame since Monday morning. Why on earth did they wait until 5pm tuesday to call me? I've been going out 2 or 3x a day now to give her bute and just check on her in general. Long story short, there are a lot of things I'm not liking. I realized they were giving her an alfalfa/grass mix that I would say is more on the alfalfa side. Horses with laminitis should not eat alfalfa. So that's great. I'm now hauling bales from my mom's house to where Sparkles is so she can have a more grassy hay. The plan is to move her back to my sister's house by the end of this month where we are building her a stall in my little barn. My mom is right, you can be at the nicest barn in the world but if the quality of care is poor then it makes no difference.

Anyway, with everything that has been going on, the extra work and the stress of having animals with health issues pop up I have felt almost no energy for EV. I've come on somedays and just was like 'nope'.

I need to do a serious cut back on the number of horses I have here. I know I will keep my GVs, Morgans, and Arabians but I have sooo many more breeds still. It may end up just being that I lock them on a spare account forever...or maybe one day I will have the time and motivation to really start posting them up for sale, not sure.

So if you have been wondering where I've been that's it.

He is a devil puppy, I'm actually thinking of registering him with the name Kenobi The Terrible. He is healthy and very active but also very annoying at times.

Thanks, Kylo needs to go for acupuncture soon again as he is a bit off with his back leg. The first few days he couldn't walk on his own so we were carrying a 90lb dog in and out of the house to potty and having to hold his back end up while he went. At one point we had to have him cathed because he was unable to go on his own, that was scary as they were worried about permanent nerve damage. Thankfully after going for acupuncture we started seeing a lot of improvement.

Sparkles will be alright, just the anxiety of waiting to be able to move her out to my sister's farm again.

so sorry to hear things have been rough for you! i hope it all gets easier soon, it really sucks when one thing after another keeps happening, i feel like i haven't gotten a break over on my end either lol. it sounds like you're taking great care of Sparkles given the situation though, i'm sure she'll get better in no time!
