Rock's Stars
A Warrior Cats short story by Raptorfang

---
This is my story of how Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Dovewing, and Hollyleaf came to be.
*Please be aware that I own NONE of these characters, just this writing. DO NOT copy it.
---

Rock walked up the path to the Moonpool. He sat down, waiting for his companions. From the shadows, Midnight the badger emerged, followed by the gray tabby Skywatcher. "Greetings." Rock mewed, dipping his head. "Greetings." Skywatcher echoed, settling down beside the hairless cat. Midnight lay beside Rock on his other side. "So," she began, "the three cats... Firestar's kin. Show them to me, please, Skywatcher." Skywatcher closed his eyes, saying nothing, and a starry bubble of light appeared in front of him. It floated out to the center of the Moonpool, where it hovered just above the water. Slowly, the bubble faded away, and all that was left were three translucent cats, their paws making starlit ripples across the surface of the water. "I do not know them yet, obviously, since they do not yet walk the territories, but here are their to-be souls." the gray cat whispered, his eyes now open. "Let us get on with their "powers", then." Rock said, breaking the quietness. His clouded eyes moved over to face the starry creatures, even though he could not see them. "Let's start with him." he began, pointing with a claw at the cat to the far left: a muscular tom. Midnight glanced at him quizzically, as if after all this time she still wondered how he could sense where StarClan beings, cat or something else, were. She shook her head, deciding to give it up. "Strength..." Skywatcher murmured, narrowing his eyes. "Lots of strength. Not the most powerful, though." he added, glancing at the cat in the middle: a medium-sized tom. "But," he said expressionlessly, "strength will do." He touched his nose to the starry cat's, and at once he was a still-translucent golden tabby tom, raking his claws across Skywatcher's muzzle. When the former SkyClan cat didn't flinch, the image faded, and all that was there was the clear figure of the tom. Rock stood up, facing the other starry tom. "Powers..." he mused. "What should I choose? He radiates... something abnormal. He's... dangerous... He could be." he corrected. "He needs a limit." Rock stepped forward. As he touched the tom's nose, a burst of light engulfed the clearing, and the cat yowled with glee as he learned every thought, every feeling, of all three living creatures. Quickly, Rock slashed a paw across the now-gray tom's eyes, leaving three glowing claw marks across his eyes. His color faded from view, and the lighted scars glowed for a moment more, then faded to nothing. "He was too powerful." Rock explained dryly. He realized that, somehow, he had seen all of that. "Powers..." he whispered to himself. Midnight stepped past him, facing the last starlit being: a she-cat. Midnight touched her nose to the cat's, and all at once the stars around it faded. The she-cat turned pitch black. Rock wanted to screech out: I told you! Midnight won't work! She's a badger!, but he had no need. The little stars shone once more, and he realized with a huff of relief that that was the she-cat's color. She blinked open her eyes, and the solid-colored orbs shone with a piercing green light. "I am..." she tried to say, but it was blown away in a gust of wind that robbed her of her color. "She seems... different." Midnight mumbled. "Less... powerful." Rock cocked his head. All three starlit cats opened their jaws in a soundless yowl, and then flashed away in a burst of light. Three tiny specks of light wreathed around Skywatcher, who had given the prophecy, and then flew off, flickering out in the night sky. "Go to your home." the tom said. "Find your destinies." As Rock turned to leave, the others had vanished. He could hear their pawsteps, but he could feel from the coldness around him that they were not there. Then, a feeling of warmth spread through him, and he could... see a small gray she-cat standing in front of him. They were so close that his nose touched hers, and she disappeared in a cloud of white mist. As walked on, slowly fading into the shadows, he heard three voices ring out inside his head: Lion... Jay... Dove..., and then a barely audible: Holly...

Yeah, I guess. Ive just always ahted she showing up instead of Dovewing in the image and she has nothing to do with the prophecy, no powers or anything. Just a thought.

ikr
But it would've been cooler if she had powers, imo. I mean, to me, the whole 'warrior code or ultimate failure' thing was really annoying, but she was really awesome after she came back from the tunnels.
And just think: what an awesomer plot twist it would have been if she had run away and they thought they would have all been doomed bc one of the three was gone? =3
And bc I get it if Dovewing was an only kit, but now it doesn't work right because Ivypool is just there... (and btw I love her ♥)

I tried to read this and only got halfway through because it's a wall of text * ^ * I like what I read, but you should use a few paragraphs in there. Typically, you want a new line every time a different character speaks. It was a bit confusing as to who was saying what.
