Gaia

Gaia walked alongside her sister, her head low to catch the filly in case she slipped and fell. When the weak yearling thanked her, Gaia only snorted. "Shut up." she blew out teasingly, humor dancing in her eyes. "You're too young to be thinking about having to repay me for something like that. I'm sure you would've done the same if the roles were reversed and you have to learn to be okay with that." she said as they walked, looking down at the filly with a soft gaze. As they approached the tree, Gaia slowed to a halt and tilted her head up to look at the branches of the beautiful tree. It was crazy for her to think about how all of this wasn't real. There was no life outside of the plants in this world. Even the animals that Aithion would send to spook them were simply extensions of himself. Her heart clenched for a moment as she tried to remember the sound of the birds that used to nest in this tree. She couldn't. In real life, the last time she had visited this tree she had been with their mother. Denali. Gaia started to wonder if her mother's appearance had changed at all. If her features had hardened with age or if her face had always remained as soft as Gaia remembered it. She had been around Cheyenne's age when she was chased out of the herd. She remembered that day like it was yesterday. Desperately calling for her mother as Cheyenne's father chased her, teeth skimming her back and hooves storming after her. She cried for days. Her mother had done nothing to stop it. Gaia's feelings about her parents were conflicting but in the end, she still harboured a lot of anger towards both of them. Towards Denali for being a bystander and towards Aithion for ruining her life and then never being an actual parent to her. 

Cheyenne
     Cheyenne just looked down hearing Gaia's words. She had a feeling that her sister was right, but Chey knew Aithion would more than likely hurt her sister like he did to herself. They had to look after each other despite the yearling being young. As they approached the tree, Cheyenne got the feeling that despite everything her sister had gone through, she was a bit attached to the tree. She didn't say anything as she admired the tree herself. Chey wasn't born there, but it was beautiful. A little before they reached the tree, Cheyenne was almost fully walking on her own unlike when they first started to walk. When they got to their destination, the yearling stayed on her hooves a bit after being in the creek for a couple hours. Her body was still sore, and she was still weak, but she carefully walked over to a small patch of grass. She was starving, so she grazed for a little bit now that she was weaned. Now that Aithion had sent a deadly snake, Chey was now more cautious of her surroundings, and she had the feeling that he would send something else to harm the two sisters. After grazing for a little while, Cheyenne walked over to the tree and laid down. Though as she did, she kind of stumbled. Once she laid down, she looked at where the snake bit her to see her fetlock only slightly larger then it's normal size. She smiled a bit before laying her head on the ground and closing her eyes to get some more rest.
