Snow walked over to the washing stalls, looking all regal and proud. She basked in the attention the stable hands gave her by congratulating the mare on her win and giving her a few pats. When she reached the stalls, she was given a good groom and some treats, which she munched on happily. Afterwards, she was taken to the paddock and was currently found on the grassy fields grazing.

Diva grazed in the paddock peacefully ignoring the fact that some of the visiting Thoroughbreds wanted to go as well. The proud mare enjoyed the fact that these races were located at her home. She got to go in the pastures, her own stall, no traveling, and advantages on the track. She looked up at a couple of younger Thoroughbreds who were currently tied up along the pasture fence, "Your not going to get lose, and come in here." she said before turning around. Diva walked deeper into the pasture to the oak tree.

Snow snorted and turned her head up to look at Diva. She then looked at the thoroughbreds trying to sneak their way in and flicked her tail, turning away from them sassily before she began to graze again. She basked in the breezy heat and made her way to the shade of the large oak tree beside Diva, though it didn't help with the heat very much.

"Oh the advantages of racing at your home stable," Diva chuckled looking up at Snow, "Did you hear that this is a 3 day event? I think I heard Hernando saying I'll be doing one maybe two races tomorrow. Even though they're shorter." Diva sighed,"Hopefully I'll pull everything together if I start off bad again." she said. Diva knew these shorter races were going to be tougher. She'd never raced in one of these, so she needed to get a good start, or there was going to be no way she'll cross the line first.
Charlotte came, and got Diva from the pasture. It was getting late, and Diva had to get some rest. She can't be sleeping in like she did today. When Diva was in her stall, she ate some of her special feed, and drank some of the water. It was starting to cool down for the night, and the cool breeze coming from outside felt nice. Diva slept well that night, ready for the challenges that would lay ahead. She would overcome them, and prove everyone wrong.

"Really? Three whole days? This race was very fun but I don't know if I can do another one just yet. Hopefully I won't be put up in any of the other races..." she muttered. "And don't worry, I'm sure you will. Believe in yourself and work hard. You've been practicing hard up to this moment Diva, I know you can do it" Snow encouraged her. She watched Charlotte lead Diva away before a groom entered the pasture to lead Snow away as well. She was tucked away in her stall, munching away happily at her soft mash and lapping away at her fresh water. That night, she was exhausted, and so sleep came very easy for her.

"Snow if I can do it, you can too. This is a lot for me. I mean I've only been fully recovered for what like a week maybe two? I've been stuck in that stall. You on the other hand (well hoof) you have been training everyday while I couldn't. You deserve this just as much as I do Snow. To be honest, I haven't really been trained. If anything you deserve to be a champion. I know it's my dream, but it's everyone's dream. To be the best." Diva said encouragingly.
That next morning was busy. Horses prancing about antsy, and riders, trainers, and grooms running around the place. Diva though, just stayed in her stall munching on her performance mix. She was relaxed, and tried to keep from not believing in herself even though she was nervous. Though, she knew she could do it.

Vinn
Vinn pawed the ground, staring out of her stall and looking at that starting gate all morning. She loved short races- it was her strength. Starts, acceleration- this was Vinn's passion. Her 'Go' button. Vinn couldn't wait to be out on the track, racing. She quickly ate her breakfast and waited for Nia to come fetch her. Vinn was in the two earlier races, and the last race of the day. She would have a 2 hour break between her first races and around a 5 hour break between the middle and the last. The first would be the shortest, and the races would lengthen throughout the day. Vinn just hoped it wouldn't get too hot.

Time seemed to freeze for Vinn, she was stuck where she was, looking at the gates. Suddenly, she was in them, and her heart thundered. Here we go. Win the races today and you'll have enough points to go to the big leagues. Maybe soon- The Oaks. Going to all the local shows racked Vinn and Nia up enough points to qualify for The Oaks- all they had to do was win the races today and keep it up. This is the final push. Vinn flirted with time- waiting for the gates to slip open, and the finish line to stare her down. She watched narrow-eyed, and waited for Nia to pulse her forward.

The gates creaked and rocked, then disappeared above her. The sun glinted on Vinn's exposed back, and the horse took off across the track. The pack was tight, and dust obstructed any vision of who was in first place. The announcers screamed into their microphones, and the stands roared. The winner was going to be a complete surprise- it must've been a first. Two horses' muzzles peaked out of the storm of dust, revealing the first and second place horse. One had a spotted muzzle, another a black one. As they ran, more of the two horses became visible. First, the neck of the spotted one, then it's rider. "It appears that Hasta La Vista is in the lead! With Not My Problem right behind! Hasta La Vista is speeding up, how can a horse get any faster?! But look, Not My Problem hasn't given up yet- here comes the finish- Hasta La Vista has taken the first race of the day! What a sight!."

Vinn gleamed at the cameras, and more fancy men came to praise her and Nia. It appeared Vinn wanted a fancy hat too- she stole a tall man's as soon as the cameras flickered, causing an outburst of laughter.

Diva watched Vinn's race nearby the track. Charlotte was giving her a quick brush down on her coat and mane. After that, she made sure the saddle was on right, and was comfortable. Diva was next. This is it. No room for mistakes. She thought to herself. Diva looked at her scar, and smiled. The scar pushed her past what happened, and that she had the strength and courage to win. So, that was exactly what she was going to do.
Diva was placed in the starting gate as number 4. A horse to the left of her tried to nip her in the shoulder, but Diva made sure they didn't. She was a diva you didn't want to mess with. The gates opened, and Diva burst out at full speed having a perfect start. She was almost nose to nose with the horse who tried to nip her as she battled for first. Diva paid no attention to the announcer who seemed to be yelling so the crowd could hear. "Grey Phantom is battling with Eat my Dust! Nose to nose, and the finish is nearing! Looks like Eat my Dust has sped up, but what's this!? Grey Phantom is speeding up a lot more! And it's Grey Phantom for the win by 2 strides!" the announcer yelled as Diva crossed first.
Hernando had Diva slow down slowly. When they were at a walk, the two walked past the other racers, and the crowd of news people. "No questions," Hernando kept saying as he tried to ride through the crowd. Once they were out of the crowd, and into the barn, Hernando hopped off. "Good job Diva. That accident only made her stronger," he whispered patting her on the neck. The next race was later in the day, so the horse and rider had plenty of time to refuel their energy.

Snow was relieved when she found out that she would run in the last race on the last day, meaning that as soon as she finished with the race everyone would be getting ready to leave. At least she had this day to relax before she would have to gallop out again, though she thought now she wouldn't mind it as much. She was cantering about in the pasture and feeling the soft breeze against her coat. She knew that Diva had done well in the race and so did Vinn. She believed in her friends. Although she didn't get a chance to watch them, as she now had a stable hand watching her from inside the pasture, she would congratulate them later.

Diva was placed in her stall after the race. She stuffed her muzzle in the water, and almost drank all of it in what seemed a second. That race took a lot out of her even though that was a short race. She rested, and within 6 hours, she was back up. Diva was starting to get tired, but she didn't show it. This race would be longer, and the longer the better. She was once again tacked up, and Hernando was once again up on her back.
Within minutes she was back in the starting gate, and out she went. She was muzzle to muzzle with a snooty mare, as she galloped as fast as she could. Though that mare was Star Dancer. One of the top newby racehorses. She had a winning streak of 16 races, and no one had ever passed her. As the finished grew closer, the others past the determined mare. Diva had lost. 6th place. Her streak was over. Now everyone thought everything was a fluke.

Vinn watched Diva’s race- a tough one. A bunch of fresh of the trailer fillies with winning streaks in the double digits. Although Vinn wanted to console Diva, it was time for her last race of the day. Vinn had to take first- and that would put her in the Oaks. Vinn, feeling a fresh breeze of energy flow through her, took her last race with wing lengths in between. After the two previous races, it seemed all the fancy men had thought she’d wear out- and Vinn heard Nia talking about all the money Vinn had racked up that day. To Vinn though, racing was just doing what she loved. Doing what she loved, taking pictures with fancy men in tasty hats, and her friends companionship. Vinn held her head high, to think that she had come all that way and now she had the shot at going for the Oaks? It amazed her, but she wanted to surprise her friends- maybe when Diva wasn’t so down. Vinn waited eagerly for Snow’s race, and went to console Diva while she waited. She could tell the horse was down, but Vinn knew better than to let the sleeping dog lie. She needed to pick Diva back up, and fast. “Diva- you lost once. Raise your muzzle, congratulate the winners, and move on. Every horse is going to loose a race. Only the good ones are going to come back from it. You get to pick- what will it be?” Vinn left to go watch Snow, and stole a few hats along the way.

Diva was in the pasture trying to figure out what went wrong. Nothing did. She was just placed in a race too hard for her. Sure her streak of 3 races was over, but everyone would lose. Diva knew that one day, she will race against Star Dancer again, but this time, she will beat her. Diva was going in the final race of the last day. This race was bigger than all of these others ones. This race showed who had the potential to go far. Diva may have been one of the best known racehorses here right now, but there were others who were faster and better than her. She knew this.
When Vinn walked up, Diva looked at her, "Vinn I know. They entered me in a race that was too challenging for me. Even the greatest racehorses lost some races. Sure it's disappointing, but I'll show them tomorrow at the very last race," she said OK with loosing.

Snow was led out onto the track where she would participate in the last race. This is the race to see your true potential. That means I'll have to do good. But I'll be going against Diva, she thought as she shifted on her hooves skittishly. She muttered affirmations to herself and flicked her tail nervously as she prepared for the bigger race.

I just saw how many posts this had. Thanks so much!)

Burr pranced in his stall, lips peeled back in anger. The horses' ears were pinned, and he was clearly agitated as somebody led him out and tacked him up.

Diva got ready to race. This was it. The final race she may have lost her last race the day before, but she wouldn't this time. The mare chomped on her bit, and kept moving while Hernando held her back. When it was time, the horse and rider stepped onto the track. "Good luck Snow," she said as the two were placed in the starting gates with a few horses in between. I have to prove them I have what it takes. I may be an old plow horse, but I can still race. She thought.
The starting gates opened, and all of the horses burst out of the gates. Diva was at the front of the pack. She kept pace with the other horses who were barely ahead of her. If they got too far ahead, she wouldn't be able to catch back up. When Snow was almost shoulder to shoulder with Diva, Diva chuckled, "This is fun! Haha. Welp here's the race with me you wanted," she said a bit serious because of the race, but chuckled cause of her friend.
When they reached the final turn, Diva sped up. The 3 horses who were ahead of her became the three horses were behind her. 1 stride. 2 stride. 3 stride. 4 stride. 5 stride. 5 strides! Diva won by 5 strides! That'll show them!
