Rough couple of weeks

#237293 Posted on 2021-03-21 10:59:10

Some of you may remember that last year, well just over a year ago now, I had a kidney stone in my left kidney that I passed. Yikes, did that hurt. Well I also had a stone in my right kidney that was too large to pass. I finally had it removed this past February and ended up with a stent in for a week. Let me tell you that I would rather pass a stone on my own than ever have to have another stent. March 11 I went in for a 1 month follow up from the stent removal. They did an ultrasound on my kidneys and bladder. Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any damage, which is great. Unfortunately, I already have a stone in my left kidney again. Now I have to go through all sorts of stuff to try and figure out why I keep getting stones and what I can do to prevent them in the future. I also need at least yearly X-rays to check in and see what the current stone is doing and see whether or not I develop more. So okay, this sucks but I can deal with it right? Fine, just take it as it comes.

Fast forward 6 days, I saw my primary for the 3rd time in the last 2.5 years for the constant pain I am in. How things that should not hurt are excruciating to me. Being poked in the arm, scratching an itch on my arm or leg, sometimes a hug, walking on the grated cement around the pool, my hands ache all of the time. This all on top of a bunch of other symptoms. Well I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The key to trying to manage it? Solid 8 hours of sleep a night. Guess what? I work a sleep shift position at work where I can get 7 hours at best...but because of how uncomfortable the sleeping accommodations are I still toss and turn all night. I was put on an AM and PM dose of Tylenol Arthritis to try an help but so far nothing. I am also going to start an antidepressant that can sometimes help with fibromyalgia. We will see if any of that helps. My husband is urging me to quit my job so that I can get decent sleep and manage this but I just paid my entire deductable for the year with my surgery. I really don't want to have to start over with his insurance.

So, I have been extremely overwhelmed with my health issues and trying to figure out what I should do. I don't want to quit my job and feel like I don't contribute but I also don't want to keep wasting my life because I'm in too much pain to enjoy the day to day stuff.

So anyway, I haven't been super active over the past couple of weeks and I may not be super active for awhile, club contests may be on hold for awhile, stuff like that.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still dealing with the issues with your kidney's... that is a awful thing to have to deal with and its incredibly painful too! I hope things start to get better for you and that things also start looking up for you. You and your health is important, so take all the time you need to get yourself better! ♥ ♥
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! ♥

As for the EDF club, don't worry about the club, I am looking after it and the club is doing well! =)

So sorry to hear that, that sounds painful and extremely frustrating. Hopefully the doctors can figure out how to help you manage the pain better, and what's causing all the kidney stones. ♥

Please take care of yourself. That is most important. Hopefully you will find some relief and not have to leave your job. Or maybe you could take some sort of leave while they work out a pain management routine for you? Sending you lots of healing vibes.

Thanks all

I have put a call into my doctor and talked with HR. I will most likely be taking a leave from work. Whether or not it will have to be FMLA or I can use my short term disability benefit I do not know yet. I can keep my health insurance with both options but with short term disability I can continue to be paid 60% of my regular income. With FMLA I wouldn't have any pay. We will see what ends up happening, I just know I want to figure out how to manage this...sick of missing out on my life because I am always in pain and the chronic fatigue.
