Another Update on Callie

#234945 Posted on 2021-02-07 21:21:36

Well I figured to update on how my Callie is doing. As I lay in bed with her curled up close to me it’s making me slightly emotional. Fighting back tears as she’s fast asleep with her body pressed against mine. An I haven’t quite found the words to exactly say. Last week Callie had a vet appointment that I didn’t go to, because I was out of town. So my mom ended up taking her because Callie had stopped eating and became vomity again which means it was time to go get her steroid to make her belly better. Normally since September getting the possible diagnosis of IBD or Lymphoma, the steroid has been a consistent six weeks. But this time it was shorter with four weeks being it this time. Now Callie is back to eating and being overly clingy to me but our vet said to keep a closer eye on her as the less time between the shots mean that it could be the Lymphoma and that it’s progressing. This cat instantly bonded to me in 2017 after her sister Bailey died and then Callie became my cat. As my mind is overwhelmed with negatives right now. It’s hard seeing her sleep more and being overly cautious if I pick her up and her letting out a meow. I get worried about her stomach since Bailey was a different story with kidney cancer. But as I give more Callie cuddles I thought I would update everyone with her.

Sparky- Thank you, we just have to wait till she stops eating again or becomes vomity and then see how long her most latest steroid will hold her over with.

I’m sorry to hear. I have a goat with two torn ligaments, so were also just seeing if she can live with it and when it gets worse if we will have to put her down, so I know how you feel. A goat may not be anything close to a cat but it still hurts to know they hurt. I am praying for your Callie Cat and hoping she gets better. :)

Midnight- Thank you so much ❤️

Tru- Ohh I think any animal that you love and are bonded to is considered a pet. I will keep your goat in my prayers ❤️

I hope that Callie starts to improve and the steroid shot lasts for the entire 6 weeks this time. So sorry she hasn't been doing well.

Hey Daph, not sure if it'll make you feel any better, but we have a kitty who has very similar issues!
She's 16 at least and has either had stomach cancer or IBD for...I'd say at least four years. She's on consistent oral pill steriods for hers. While she still occasionally has bouts of vomiting or "yowling" type noises, she's really doing great and I'm sure she'll be fine for years to come.

I hope this brings you some comfort. It can be scary, but I want you to know that they can be on steroids with tummy issues and still live a full life ♥
