Oh, I'm sure I'm gonna get flack for this.. but here we go...
Ok, I just wanted to put my two cents into the convo. Again, strictly my own , personal opinion.
I've been playing this game for years.. and I have become increasingly frustrated with how things are going in the game to the point where I don't play regularily anymore.
I have no way of making decent money in the game anymore, why? Well..
1. I can't sell horses anymore because I would not get anything near what they would be worth. I have been playing this game for many years and have put so much time into my horses. I refuse to sell a 2500+ stat horse with less than 10 nss..( sometimes less than 5) for the few bucks I would get in the game today.
Also, I have sold horses in the past, only to discover that they were carelessly bred, creating tons of useless, poor quality horse that carried my lines. So ok, can't make money selling horses.
2. I won't put horses up for breeding because again, I wouldn't get the stud/brood fees that I would think are fair for the stats/nss my horses have.. So ya, ok.. can't put horses up for breeding.
3. I used to sell credits, privately, to players for 50k in hopes of helping out all players in the game and making it fair for everyone. Alas, I discovered that a few of those people I sold credits to, were flipping them in the credit store for ridiculously over inflated prices. Sooo, ok.. can't make money selling credits anymore... what's left.. hmm
4. Art.. I used to sell alot of art.. but I'm an adult player and seriously, the amount of time i put into creating charries.. I just don't have it.. and it's not worth it in the end.. so ya.. there goes that idea..
5. Showing.. well.. most of the time, there aren't even enough shows to enter all my horses in .. so I end up creating my own shows.. to show my own horses .. like seriously? pfft And well ok I can get a few bucks from shows and riding schools but ya.. that's about it..
Therefore.. not really much money to be made anywhere..
Re: The over population of horses on EV..
I think it's just too easy for players to go and create hundreds and hundreds of foundies..( yup, I've been guilty of doing that). most which end up being useless and just fill up the game with unwanted horses that get tossed into the rc...
I wouldn't mind a cap on creating foundies at all I think this would help with the overflow of horses in the game. Or say, limit horses by level... ie level 1-10 get 25 or whatever horses.. 10-15 get 50 .. 15 to 20 get 100.. bla bla.. jusssst an idea!
Also, an idea I had..
I suggested the auction house way back and it was implemented. However, it's hardly used at all anymore.. In a former game I played, there was an auction held a couple times a week or ie.. tues, thurs, sat or sun.. Players would be able to put as many horses as they wanted into auction.. be it foundies, foals, mares, stallions, geldings.. etc.. They could also put a reserve price on a horse that if their horse(s) did not get bids that met their price. The horse would remain with the player.
Players would be able to go to the auction and with a search engine.. seek out exactly what they're lookin for ie.. age, sex, foundie, non foundie.. etc.. and the pages would come up with their search results narrowed down. Bids would be in increments. starting at like .. 300 500,.. whatever. and bids would be done in increments..
All players would be able to see the bidding on the horses when they visit the auction house.. and it got really interesting, towards the end of the auction.. when multiple players were going after the same horse!
Auctions would run for the day and end at a certain time, ie 9pm.. Horses would be instantly transferred to the winning bidders, money would be transferred to sellers accounts and horses not sold would be deleted/go back to the game.
This might help create some money flow to the game.. and produce some demand for higher quality horses. .. Just a thought.. This would also be a way to get rid of the rc, while increasing the ability of players to make money. Say they threw a foundie in the rc that maybe wasn't the discipline they wanted.. ie western.. Well a players sees this foundie.. with like amazing nss and confo, in the auction..Well they can bid on it.. and gosh, another player or two spot the same foundie.. It's exactly what they want.. so these players begin bidding on it. Depending on how bad they want it.. and say the foundie had crazy nss like 48 ( yes I've gotten many of those before).. That horse could fetch some decent money in the auction. The result.. the player who created that foundie would get a return on a horse that they didn't need. Some money back in their pocket. I'm sorry but I think it's an amazing idea!
My next issue is with the customizer .. so ya, why do we even have it now? We can now buy our own custom applicators for anything we want right? I won't use the customizer anymore because many times I created customs, their stats were not for the discipline I wanted. Sooo I ended up deleting those horses.. Why? Well I couldn't sell them . I would never get anything close to what they were worth and what I paid to create them.
Now that we have all the customizers, I see no point for the custom creator... Unless, of course, you could custom create horses that had stats specific to disciplines you wanted. ie.. 60 or less nss for selected discipline of choice.. or, being a custom and paying credits for it.. make custom horses with 55 or less nss in the discipline I can select!!! Otherwise, it's cheaper for me to create stores until I find one I like.. and buy my own customizers to make that horse into exactly what i want it to be. After all, I just created a couple hundred stores and got me an nice 49 nss all good confo horse.. so ya.. just add a few customizers.. and taaadaaa.. colour/stats/confo/discipline i wanted and i save the credits I would have lost on creating a horse that was useless to me because I didn't want that discipline..
Breeding:
Ok, this one alot of peeps won't like but.. I would like to see more realistic breeding in the game. ie.. mares bred in the spring.. foals born a year later ( ie 1 month later) . This would help with the influx of overbred horses and tons of unwanted foals. Many people want that instant gratification with the game.. and it's too easy to just click n breed, click n breed which results in a whole bunch of unwanted foals being thrown into the game. By introducing a more realistic breeding season, there would be less horses constantly thrown into the game. . dunno.. just my opinion.
I'd also like to see more focus on improving horse art.. More realistic colours.. I'd love to see the few spot Appys re done to looks more realistic.. They were more realistic in V1 than they are now.. I'd love to see snowflakes brought back as well... I'm not interested in fancy tack, butterflies, birthday hats etc.
I'd also think it would be of benefit to the game if certain genes , ie ff ZZ, Ch, were harder to come by...or cost more to get , so as to make the horses that carry them, much more sought after and desirable. I know they are harder to get when creating stores.. but what if they weren't available at all in the stores and you could only get them with store bought applicators or customs.. Just my opinion..
I think I'd best shhh now.. I'm sure I've ruffled a few feathers.. but again.. simply my opinion.. Don't be hatin.. lol.
Cheers ma dears!

@Windspun, I really like the auction idea, the auction house is currently very much useless and I would support if you made a suggestion for that. How would it work, exactly, though? Would this replace current auction house, horse sales, and RC?
I do think it would help, seeing as one of the (many) big problems with sales right now is that it's impossible to get people's attention about it. An auction like that, maybe twice a week, would attract a lot of players- even if most of them are 'just looking', they might still buy one that catches their eye- and maybe there could be 'classes' or something like that, for different value horses, so the beginner players without much cash could check out the cheapest 'class', and if you're looking for a really good-quality horse, you could check out the most expensive 'class' (though I think it needs a more attractive name than 'most expensive'), and so on.
It might not be needed with your search engine idea, but I think that could help pricing- for instance, if you have a great horse, and you want to market it towards members looking for really high-quality horses, you would want to price it high so that it will be filtered into the most expensive 'class', because that will be where members who want that kind of horse will be looking. Maybe it could be meshed with the search engine somehow?
Okay, I'm done. :3
