Planet Zoo / Red Dead Online?

#217876 Posted on 2020-01-28 16:17:31

Would really love to know if anyone else plays this game. I've clocked in almost 300+ hours since it's release and I'm currently working on an all white/roman themed zoo (though my building skills are still a bit lacking), between franchise challenges and breeding zoos.

I stuck some screenshots of my current "serious" zoo in an album to view- Lefko Zoo. It's not very big yet (even though I started it in... november) as I'm trying to finish habitats before moving on, and I rework and tweak things a lot as I've discovered new things or come up with a new plan. I'm also super indecisive on where things will go, so there's been a lot of thinking as I'm decorating areas lol. I've also had to collect some more leucistic animals to actually import to this zoo, I have a system of buying one or two leucistic and getting a couple generations of breeding in until they're all leucistic or carriers so I always have a steady supply but that's also distracting.

I'd really like to see if anyone would be interested in doing a collab zoo, or trade some animals (I breed for the highest quality) or just sharing pictures/zoos with other people. None of my friends are interested in playing so it's a bit lonely and I don't want to spam non-players with pictures. :c

Oh, btw! Does your computer run it okay? Does it have a pretty good graphics card? My laptop runs just fine with Sims 4 and tons of expansion packs, and with the graphics nearly maxed. So I'm hoping Planet Zoo works okay!

Wow, thank you so much for sharing maplɛ! Looks great!

I've been drooling after this game since last summer, but I have never played a game like this (no the Sims or Zoo Tycoon) so I feel a bit intimidated by it. Yup, I am a chicken that gets overwhelmed way to easily. :P
Hope you find some peeps to collab with!

I've never heard of it, but those screenshots make me want to play. Is it browser-based, phone app, or is it a PC game like Sims? As for placing/building habitats, I'd start with animal type (large cats, bears, hooved prey [deer, antelope, zebra], pachyderms, etc) then go from there.

Exciting Samara! I run it on all high settings (I could run it on ultra but there's not much difference between ultra and high for my resolution), I have an Nvidia GTX1650 graphics card and Ryzen 5 processor (new i5 equivalent) and it runs perfectly fine. Are you getting the regular base game or the deluxe version? I bought deluxe for the 3 extra animals and the arctic dlc the day it was released, the animals are well worth it from being so well made.

Thanks Punkin, it really is much more than I expected it to be and definitely lived up to the hype in terms of realism. The AI for animals and staff can be a bit buggy but they're super good at patching and listening to the community. You should totally try it! Even if you don't build you can still enjoy the decorating or use blueprints from other players. They've actually added options to the sandbox mode so you don't even have to deal with the animal welfare or any of the management side and just build how you want.

Planet Zoo is a PC game, Mouse, it's sold through steam. I've been grouping by animal type/biome so far and plan to put the bigger attraction animals towards the back of the zoo to pull people through. I just keep getting distracted by the community challenges and trying to plan new buildings/directions to go in lol.

Steam has sales pretty often, there's one starting in May! The base game sometimes goes down around 5-7 quid, potentially lower now that the initial hype is out of the way, especially that there's a new DLC potentially dropping in 25-30 days.

I haven't played a lot of this game yet, but I love it! My best friend and I both got it since we've loved Zoo Tycoon since we were kids. Once I get better at it I'm sure I'll be back with some zoo pics!

Awesome, I watched all the beta videos and speed builds for ideas and new ways to do things. I don't think I'm very creative by comparison but it's improved very much since I started. The steep learning curve if you haven't played Planet Coaster is rough, especially since I also came straight from Zoo Tycoon. I was playing a (very) heavily modded ZT2 and has just reinstalled the first game for nostalgia's sake before PZ was announced.

Holy wooly mammoth, Batman! $45 for a game?! Granted, the graphics look amazing, but still. Is it a stand-alone kind of like sims or is it subscription MMO like final fantasy? I really really want it. Maybe for my birthday (fingers crossed).

It's Standalone-ish. No subscription, but lots and lots of DLC coming your way, unfortunately. So if you want more animals, building parts and such, you'll have to pay more. Though the game itself is nice without DLC.

I'm feeling like I'm the only one who was horribly disappointed in this game. Yeah, it looks great, but I played the beta and was shocked at the state it was in, bug-wise and the release was just as bug-ridden. Rushed release to get the first DLC on the way a month later because hey, christmas.

I played a lot until that very point. Haven't touched it since. Going back to Guild Wars 2.

I was a bit disappointed in the management side at first but I think they've done a fair amount of work addressing that (though why they decided keepers should fill enrichment items before the food item beats me). Ever since they added parentage/siblings and the ability to slow animal ageing the game has gotten way more enjoyable for me. I still think the price was well worth it, especially for all the content involved to start with and it's majorly improved since release (I've not even experienced many of the bugs since release), and the DLC price is more than justified for the amount of building pieces for a new theme/as well as new animals imo. I can't wait to see what they bring out next and where they go with the game. I'm still holding out for penguins to be added though swimming/diving mechanics would have to be improved/added first.

Anyway this was more to find some people to play with than a review of the game (though I still highly recommend it).

Sorry if my comment was unwelcome or in the wrong thread. Enjoy the game :) And with the amount of people asking for penguins, I'm sure they will add them in eventually.
