Is the Game..Slowing?

Eh, so I know I'm not really known around here. Not a 'known' breeder/collector..hoarder--Whatever you want to call it, heh. But I've been sorta lurkin' around on here for quite a while now. And even when I first started playing, this place felt pretty..Booming! I've taken a long leave, for a pressing issue, that I'd have hoped would be clear by now; Although, I don't think it has..

Has the game slowed down? I feel like it has. In terms of active breeders, going for crazy coats and patterns and what-not. And maybe even in terms of showing (Never been a 'show-er..-er', hehe) ?  I've seen it discussed before, the horse market has kinda crashed. Things just seem very..tuckered out. I really, reeeally hope this doesn't come off as judgmental and critical as it feels, as I type! It seems like there used to be horses of extremely desired coat colors/ markings, but now they've become pretty common..and lost some luster? I think stats and confo have kept up okay, though..idk anything. :'D

Is there any way to fix this? Ya know, something that could kinda rejuvenate the activity? What's the general opinion going around? Get things cracking again, hm? :D

I feel the same way! I came back after a long break and it’s very quiet now compared to how I remembered it. The “members online” count is always low as well.

Yeah, I'd hoped some new update would've come around, get people excited to play again. :/

It has slowed down quite a bit, but there are still a decent amount of active members so you can still enjoy the game. I spend my time promoting my clubs, looking for other breeders to work with, showing, training, all that jazz. 

Market is close to dead, most of my horses are sold to the same handful of players but there is usually someone out there looking for something, so not completely. 

I suppose. Just missing the rarity of some aspects.

It is slowing in my opinion.. or maybe just changing?  Ive noticed a lot of  QH breeders have taken a break, the major culls, fewer and further apart updates, and waiting on larger features.

however, I think its the nature of games to ebb and flow. I'm hoping a boom is right around the corner ^.^  

I think the important thing to remember is this: Rome wasn't built in a day, and it (the empire Rome not the city lol it's still here) didn't die in a day either. A dead market and a slowing game is certainly very discouraging to everyone involved, but if we all stick around despite our discouragement instead of giving up maybe we can revive it again. Idk man but hang in there because, as Olympea said, it's still active enough to be fun if you don't let the discouragement get to you.

edit: Me and BEL posted at the same time so I couldn't say this earlier but want to now. The "ebbing and flowing" thing is a good thing to keep in mind too. Don't give up on it yet. ;)

I get that;(addressed to both of you)  I suppose taking a break doesn't get things going, either xD Now I've tried to clear out my 'hoard', focus on better confo..and getting rid of sooty & pangare..eek.

Yes, let's hope a boom is around the corner! Maybe with the foal art release. whenever that will be, heh...

Just gotta keep on keeping on! This was encouraging. Knowing others have somewhat felt the same. And to not give up, just yet.

This is exactly what happened with the game horseland and now it has shut down. I really hope the same doesn't happen with EV because it's the only game that I am comfortable with now that horseland is gone but I totally see what you mean. I think maybe it has to do with the economy going so badly. I think people can't afford to buy horses or credits and the people who are selling credits are selling them way too high. Also, you have to take into consideration, school. 

The thing about the coats, that happened on horseland too. It just so happens to be that it is a big thing for a while and then it kind of dwindles down, just like with new phones, then there are more made so the old (amazing) ones have died out. The only weird thing is that there are no new ones being made. Maybe people just want something different.

Mhm, dread the thought that EV repeats history...

The credits and school theory seems pretty sound. Although I find a lot of people playing are older, in others words, past school. Potentially college, though.  And credits..yes. I've always thought they're a pretty high price. Considering most of the items you can purchase them with are eaten up almost immediately. Practically $25 for one item..? Eek.

And unlike phones, there aren't really new "coats" you can add in. This is based realistically, so making up some new one, let's say a...Seal-Chestnut (ha) would be sort of odd-ball. This also isn't like Howrse or Star Stable, with weekly updates and more leeway for fantasy and expansion beyond horses (Pets, clothing, quests, etc).  New breeds, however, would be nice. I'm not sure fantasy breeds would be the best option, though? I'm sure they'd be beautiful! Water, fairy horses and what not. But would it make the game the same as others? More 'skip-able', like "Oh, another one of these types". Idk. There's much to consider still.

I actually despise the unnatural / fairytale type breeds and colors that some games have. I like how realistic this one is, all the way down to the actual genetics.. most games seem to have horses born at whatever colors, possible or not. 

I do think certain aspects of EV could be changed in order to make it more ...interesting or difficult. 

Bring in genetic diseases, make them testable. Registries could potentially require a disease panel for registration. 
Bring in some of the currently untreatable patterns that some real life bloodlines are having pop up.
Make conformation a bigger deal. Have conformation / breed shows for both babies and adults. You could even sort them by certain colors and patterns to encourage people to strive for various genetics that they may not have originally gone for (Solid, pinto, etc).
Make geldings more valuable to the show industry. 

Things like that, spice it up while keeping things relatively true to real life.

I know deadly genetic conditions (like lethal oo) are something Abbey has thought of before, so it's not entirely out the realm of possibility. When we get some of those large updates happening (before anyone asks, I have no updates, I'm sorry, those large changes aren't in my purview), like foal art and colorful tack, that'll help too. It may also be that when summer really comes around, we may see some more activity.

In all honesty though, that sounds like a cool possible addition. It'd certainly add more of a challenge and a heightened randomness factor, which always makes things more interesting to some degree.

I honestly do not know of any other online games that have all those possibilities and real life challanges... I feel that it would make Equiverse more interesting to a wider range of players, as well as making it an excellent opportunity to teach people about things. Why not take an even more educational route?

In addition, concerning LWO and potential untestable pattern and white modifier genes... I think it would give people new goals to strive for without making them easily attainable. Same with the diseases, people would be striving to breed out anything bad while keeping the stats, color, and conformation.
