Talk about high stats

#195977 Posted on 2018-12-04 15:32:35

Wow, this is my very first International FOUR!

This girl

She has also accomplished all of the showing achievements, thus earning the CH (champion) in front of her name!

She is also currently number ONE on the all time, all breed, horses with highest stats Hall of Fame!

Wooo Hooo!

I now have my SECOND International 4 ranked horse!

]-[ Abraxas/url] leveled up this morning!

And this girl,
]-[ Americana-4/url], who matured with 3112 stats, is currently at 3972 at only 15 years of age.

So it is possible to have both high stats and high conformation, the really tricky part is getting (and keeping) the non-specific stats down. ;)

That is quite an achievement! Congrats on all of them! Such beauties! Wish I could get into breeding andies but it is so hard to find what I am looking for!

Thank you Olympea, I understand your pain :)

I got a BIG boost in conformation from Chassie who was probably the first to consistently improve her conformation scores. She now has a LOT of 99+ horses, but she doesn't work with the non-specific stats.

I've been fairly successful in bring up my total stats (now have 70+ International 3 Dressage Andies) and even have several babies BORN at International three (pretty excited about them)

You can find low non-specific stated horses, but they usually have fair to poor conformation.

I will be more than happy to work with you to improve both our herds!

Congrats! That is an amazing accomplishment! And really helps see where the thresholds might change ;] We were completely off in the beginning and didn't' even know it! I can't wait to see how high you can get with your beautiful horses. Best of luck to you!

I'm trying things from the opposite direction - working on the non-discipline stats first, then I will go on to conformation.  It will be interesting to see if/when we meet in the middle.

Certain breeds are definitely easier to find stock that has respectably high conformation and low non-discipline levels simultaneously.  Andalusians are definitely some of the best.  Some other breeds I've had to start at foundation levels.

Not worrying so much about total stats yet, because I feel that is the simplest to increase without damaging the quality of the other aspects.

I'm curious how long it takes to get from foundation to International 4, or from foundation to 99+ conformation.  Non-discipline stats can be lowered at a rate of one or two points a generation if matched correctly, so that's a bit more predictable.

Pack your patience :D

I've been working on my Andies for quite a long time, but then, I am easily distracted.

I've been seriously working on conformation for at least a year, and have always been trying to increase the total stats. The non-specific stats have been hit and miss for me.  I would bring in new stock with low nss and my conformation and total stats would take a big hit and then I would go back to conformation first.

Hopefully, this time around, I will be able to stay on track, looking forward to having several high conformation I4 horses so I can show them competitively ;)

Do you generally wait until the end of the horse's life to breed, or do you fast forward it by breeding right away?

I admit to being of the fast forward train of thought when it comes to conformation or non-discipline breeding.  As far as I've been able to tell, the only benefit from waiting is the increase in total stats, so I'm waiting to focus on that until after my other goals have been met.

I make myself wait until a mare is 15 or 16 before I start breeding her, otherwise I would be up to my eyeballs in pretty foals!

I am not so particular with the stallions. If a stallion is the best match for a mare, I will use him regardless of age, although I do try to wait.

Your patience is legendary!

And yes, I am swamped by foals.  I'm drowning in them!  But it's the way I would want to go...

I keep it under control by forcing myself to eliminate a horse every time I breed a new foal, and I try to make sure at least 1/3 of my horses are adult at all times.

It's a fun project.  I hope it will end up as brag-worthy as yours in the end, though I'm coming at it from a completely different direction!

Wowzer!

In only three days, ]-[ Americana-4/url] has earned the 32 stats needed to level up to International 4!
She has just turned 16, so she has 4 more "years" of competition!

Wow that's awesome! I breed Dutch Warmbloods in Dressage (from foundation level) and in Show Jumping (with some outside breeding) and I would love to see the day I get my guys up that high! Some of my second gens are just getting up to Na1 in dressage

Best of luck, Alicia!

Don't be afraid to breed to outside stallions if they have higher total stats and match well with your mare.

Until my herd out paced outside horses in my breeding requirements, I would look for outside horses with better stats and/or conformation all the time.
