Torpid Void

Louis 
"Ew, don't call me that. I don't know his - you called him Ace. Him. What happened to him after he took me here?" 

Aerow
Aerow narrowed her eyes judgementally. "You want me to mentor you, and yet you don't even respect me. How long will it take?" She tilted her head upright, staring at something in the distance. "Ace knew what he needed to do, and so he did it."

Louis 
He sighed, too tired to argue at the moment. "What happened to him?" Louis repeated. 

Aerow
Aerow looked back at Louis, studying him quietly. "What do you think happened to him?"

Louis 
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking you," he snapped, running a hand through his hair. He tried taking a deep breath again, but once more it didn't work. 

Aerow
"He's still existent, if that's what you want to know. How, on the other hand... that's up to you." Aerow looked down at the ground, the sand about her feet turning into smoke. She stepped back from it as it dissolved.

Louis
Louis stared at her blankly before his mind registered what she'd said. "What does that mean? Is he or is he not still himself? Did he go back to the fourth division?" 

Aerow
Aerow sighed. "Are you kidding me Louis... this is what I mean by you don't use your brain. Where does darkness come from?  A lack of light. What's imagination? Something you know but can't touch. It's not there. It's nothing, because you can't touch it. Use your imagination and you might just get somewhere."

Louis 
"Have you considered that maybe the reason I'm not thinking clearly is because I'm confused, upset, and disoriented? I don't know why I'm here, I don't understand this place, I'm worried for my sister, I was working toward my ambitions. Ace got hurt - don't tell me he wasn't, I saw the pain on his face - just so I could travel somewhere. I could have found another way. So, yeah, whatever. I forget where I was going with this."

Aerow
"Oh. My. Gosh." Aerow took a deep breath. "You're literally the definition of stupid. I never said Ace didn't sufder, I said he didn't become nonexistent. If you want me to mentor you, listen to my every word! Now, before I get upset, yes- actually, no sorry, I don't understand what you pathetic humans complain about." Her words were cut with bitterness, though it wasn't directed at Louis.

Louis 
"You already said you wouldn't mentor me. You sent me here to find someone else. I just wanted to know what I did to Ace, but I see you don't want to give me a straight answer. I don't want to upset you any further so I'll go now." Louis turned and started back down the street he had been on when he'd stopped. 

Aerow
"Yeah well, Ace changed that... I can mentor you now, if you wanted." Aerow shrugged, dissolving back into the air without another word.

Louis 
Louis paused. "What do you mean, he -" Looking over his shoulder only revealed she had disappeared again. He sighed and continued walking. He needed to find Harper, make sure he hadn't hurt someone else. "Harper?" he called, looking into alleys and up and down streets. 

Harper
Harper heard someone call her name, and she sat in total alertness (Im- yeah its totally a word). She wasn't sure if she should have replied to the voice or not, which resulted in her silencing herself.

Louis 
She has to be here somewhere. I need to find her. If she got hurt... "Harper!" Louis paused by a window and peered inside. He didn't recognize anybody. He turned away and continued down the road. There was a turn coming up. He called her name again, trying not to panic.
