So we had to put my rl horse down last month (sept. 15). I know it's been a while now but I'm still not really over it you know? He was just a really special horse to me.

Honestly I did see it coming. He had surgery in April because of colic and was fine for a few months after, but sometimes when horses go through surgery little bits of tissue grow between the intestines and stomach and that's what happened. So he had gastritis and lots of colics. The last month and a half he was having colics pretty much every two weeks.

I decided he was suffering too much. He lost around 100kg and was looking really really thin. It wasn't fair to him anymore. So yeah, I just wanted to make this topic just to sort of pay tribute to him, I just miss him a lot. I'll be editing the post with pics once I upload them to DeviantArt.

RIP Dago. I hope you're in a better place now ♥

I'm sorry :( Losing any companion is very difficult and never easy. I hope that you can find some comfort soon.

I lost my last rl horse almost 3 yrs ago... and I still think about her every single day.. You made the right choice, by not letting him suffer. I hope you'll always have fond memories of him to cherish. My girl was just old, died of old age and natural causes... Miss my sweet Jazz Z Miss

Thanks guys ♥
Yeah, it's specially tough because I lost my other horse a year and a half ago (old age), so I was just starting to get over that and now this... sigh
But I'll be ok

So sorry for your loss. It's never easy and I never get over it.
I have lost 4 horses of my own in total (colic, broken leg, cancer and cyst).

I lost my best riding horse on Sept. 11th. She left behind her 3 month old colt.
According to the autopsy, she developed a cyst on her intestine that perforated. It was about 1.5cm big. Was probably there for months and just finally hit her. She was 100% her normal self at 10pm on Sept. 10th. By 6:30am she had crashed. We tried fluids etc. but she seemed to worsen, so I made the horrible decision of letting her go.
I'm thankful that she managed to produce such an amazing colt before she passed.
