If You Could Add A Breed...

#187976 Posted on 2018-09-02 06:27:01

so, whilst we aren't getting any new breeds added, if you had the power to add one breed, what breed would you add and why? What colours they could add to EV, what disciplines they'd be good at etc.

This is just for fun, as we don't need and aren't having any new breeds added, but I'm sure people have many breeds they've thought about and would love to add.

Me personally ; I would add Welsh Cobs/Welsh Section Ds

I am in love with this breed, having owned a potential part bred Welsh.

They're quirky, naughty, fiesty and generally very talented large ponies.

I know we already have 'Welsh Ponies', but what we have is closer to the American type Welsh ponies that have colouring that isn't true to the breed (overo shouldn't be permitted) and are finer and probably closer to the Welsh B (but the height isn't 100% correct for Bs)

Welsh ponies have 4 sections.

Section A is the Welsh Mountain Pony, which are no bigger than 12.2hh.

Section B is the Welsh Pony of Riding Type, which are close to what EV has and shouldn't exceed 13.2hh

Section C is the Welsh Pony of Cob Type, which is no bigger than 13.2hh

Section D is the Welsh Cob, and must be taller than 13.2hh

Welsh Cobs are different in looks to the other Welsh ponies.

They're bigger, chunkier, move slightly differently and they are majestic.

They come in many colours that are compatible with EV

Bay

Chestnut

Black

Grey (rarer colour - I'm actually struggling to find a photo of a grey Welsh D)

Dun (rare - often mistaken for buckskin)

Buckskin

Palomino

Liver Chestnut

Flaxen Liver Chestnut

Sooty Dun/buckskin

Seal Brown/Dark Bay

Roan/Rabicano/min. Sabino (no white permitted on upper body)

Their disciplines could be driving or dressage, although they're also very good jumpers

and of course, look at how the in hand ones move (a lot of these are also ridden)

(maine is also not trying to get Barney somehow immortalised on ev ;) lol)

my honorary runners up are the beautiful Irish Draughts and Connemara Ponies (which used to be on EV)

soooo, just for fun, which breed would you like to see on EV, and why? what disciplines would they specialise in?

keep in mind, this isn't serious as we know no breeds will be added.

Jutlands.

They're bred for chestnut, but can be gray, black, bay or roan. They would excel at driving on EV. :)

why? I don't know, i fell in love with them on another sim game. I also think EV could use more drafts. :)

If we had any breeds added, which won't be the case like ever, I'd want either Shires, or Belgian Drafts back!

Shires & Belgian Drafts:

  • Black <--- most desirable genes

  • Bay

  • Chestnut <--- most desirable genes

  • Gray

  • Dilutes; Sabino

  • Solid of any color

  • Chestnut; different shades of chestnut too if I remember correctly.

  • Dilutes; Flaxen <--- desired

♥ Oh the big fluffies are my weakness. ♥ If I didn't love the other breeds a I raise, I'd just work with my Gypsy Vanners, Friesians, and Clydesdales.

-Feather

P.s. - for those of you who remember, when I first started out on EV, my breeds were Belgian Drafts, Appaloosas, and Friesians; hence my first and still remains as part of my current name for my paint account - BAF Stud Farm. :3

If I could add another breed it would be Marwari’s. I’m in love with the energetic, more exotic type horse breeds, and they’re both. I’d specialize them in Western, as they do make pretty good cow horses, and have the speed for other Western events.

Belgian drafts anytime.

They come in bay, bay roan, black, blue roan, red, red roan and grey.

They were warhorses, worked on farms and in coalmines... They are used for driving and logging today.
They could compete in driving and weight pulling, but even the heavy belgian drafts can do dressage and ghymkana.

I live where the breed originated and the original heavy draft type is stil a common sight over here. They're very different from the lightweight American type.
The lighter palomino or chestnut "Belgians" are a different breed over here, called Vlaams Paard, "Flemish horse"

@Feline - Oooooo yes! I remember now what colors they could have. EV had such limited colors, especially for Gypsy's!

Belgian heavy drafts / Brabant drafts only have about 7 colors in real life, but the different expressions of roan makes them gorgeous.

I would add Norikers! They are my second favorite breed next to Gypsy Vanners. I love big, gentle draft horses, and while Norikers are enormously strong and bred to pull, they also come in a lighter type that is quite suitable for riding. I've heard they make excellent trail/school horses as they are so calm and practically unflappable. Black is the most desirable color because it looks the flashiest when paired with roan and leopard, which are both common in the breed. But they also come in bay and shades of chestnut, including liver and with flaxen.

It would be hard to choose one! My top three would be Marwaris, Percherons, and Haflingers though!

Connemara ponies, Irish Draughts, and Irish Sport Horses!

Also it would be really rad to be able to cross a TB with an ID and have the foal be ISH... :D

Icelandics! Icelandics are so fluffy and cute, and have their two semi-unique gaits. They can also be extremely colorful, with pretty much any color and pinto-type pattern as well as roan being permitted, I believe. I'd breed them in a heartbeat! (This is my "dream breed" for the game to include, haha.)

I would also love Marwaris.

Shires or Percherons would be fun for another big breed, too.

I'd bring back Nokotas.

High roaning. I love roan, so they're of course a great choice for me. And they excel in many disciplines, however are mostly used in endurance and western, if i remember right.
not a good reason, just simply cuz the roaning. xD

Otherwise I'd look at Thessalian breed.
Its a rare, light draft breed from Greece and is rumoured to be the breed of Alexander the Greats horse, Bucephalus. Depending on who you ask, this is just a rumor, but others claim its fact. They're averaging out with heights of 14 to 15 hands high, predominant colors are bay, grey, chestnut, (seal) brown. They're oriental type, intelligent and affectionate. Head is nicely shaped with a straight profile, the comformation is usually good, and they have slim legs, though strong, with short cannons.  They are a breed descended from the ancient Turkmenian breed. These guys were imported by Philip, Alexander the Greats father, to mount his troops. Used to average 13.2 hands, but after the world wars, needs changed. What really changed was World War II, when people realized they needed larger horses, so they started upping their sizes by breeding mares to Lippis, Anglo-Arabs, and Arabs. Now they're riding, light draft type horses.
