Only The Strong Survive

"Uh...." Rayden wasn't sure which one he was saying 'uh' to. He didn't necessarily want to lope on a horse, but he wasn't too excited on hearing 'we're pretty close' either.

Outlaw 
“Is that a no? And we’re close in a sibling kinda way” she added. 

Rayden
"Oh that's even worse- I mean, uhm... yeah, I'd prefer not to," Rayden said, unintentionally tightening his grip.

Outlaw 
“Why is that worse?” She replied suspiciously. 

Rayden
"Um..." Rayden wasn't sure how to reply to that, so that's all he managed to get out.

Auberon
Auberon watched Charity for a minute as she slipped into a solid, quiet sleep. He was relieved she at least was sleeping and not unconscious, but he was also nervous she might never wake up. He sighed quietly and took out his phone again, turning it on and putting in the password. He dialed a phone number (the only one he had been dialing for the past week) and waited half patiently, half nervously if anyone would pick up. As usual it went to voicemail. Auberon exhaled deeply, blinking back some disappointed tears. "Uh- hi, Kahlen. It's Auberon. Trying to call you... again... for like the millionth time. If you ever manage to figure out I've been calling you please call me back. Thanks and love you." He hung up and tossed the phone onto his bed.

She glanced back at him sharply. “Look Ray, I like you quite a bit, but if you’re fixing to try and get between me and Auberon or control him to impress your grandfolks, I won’t stand for it. I’ve lost enough” She said as gently as she could.

Rayden
Rayden was silent for a moment. "You know I'd never do anything to hurt you," he mumbled.

Outlaw 
She searched his eyes for a moment. “Good.” She replied with a slight grin then turned back forward. She nudged the horse, and it moved into a gentle, easy trot. 

Rayden
Rayden half smiled back, tightening hia grip ever so slightly from his inner stress.

Outlaw 
“You good?” She questioned, feeling his grip tighten slightly. 

Rayden
"Mhmm," Rayden mumbled, looking down at ghe ground quietly.

Outlaw 
At his affirmation she nudged the horse again, and it picked up a smooth lope around the outskirts of the town, hooves drumming out the rhythm on the dirt. 

Rayden
"I'm pretty sure I said no- whatever this is called," Rayden said playfully, brushing Outlaw's hair out of the way so it wasn't hitting his face.

Outlaw 
“You did say no to loping. Better get used to my selective hearing” she replied jokingly. 

Rayden
"Oh fine," Rayden grumbled jokingly.
