Color/Confo breeders?

#175413 Posted on 2018-06-21 16:55:58

I have always focused on horses for showing. So I have always focused on horses with 60 or less NS stats.

I have noticed a lot of people breed for color and conformation. I noticed that a lot of the time these horses have higher NS stats.

So what do you do with them? Are they only used in riding schools? Then you just try to breed the confo up and get nice colors?

Who here breeds for confo/color over showing? What are some things that breeders specifically look for? Is there still a number of NS stats that is aimed for? Or does it really not matter?

Do you only breed horses that are the same discipline? Or does that not really matter either?

Just curious as I have seen a lot of horses that I have been tempted to buy but no idea what to do with them after!

I tend to breed for stats and conformation; color is an added plus that I have just started to concentrate on. 😊

I go for stats, confo, and color. But with Paints, getting color is pretty easy lol It's almost impossible finding a decent stud with less than 60 NS stats :/ I hope to do the same with GVs. I tend to only breed within the same discipline as well (western for Paints and going to do driving for GVs )

I've been breeding for both conformation and performance stats.

While breeding for conformation does adversely affect the performance stats, my Andalusian ranch (101472), almost every horse I have has performance stats of 2100+ and I have one of the highest stated horses currently in the game:

All of my horses have conformation of 97+

Do all of you breed for performance as well then though? 60 NS or less, give or take a few?

I breed mainly for colour. I love it when they have low NS, but as I don’t really show anyways that ain’t my main focus. As for breeding, I try to breed only same disciplines together which can be hard cause I breed all my mine for Western and several are not at all popular in that division (you can check my homepage for all the breeds I do). :)

I breed mainly for stats and secondarily color. Honestly I don't pay attention to non stats, I don't feel they play a huge difference in showing. I only show horses when they're within 20 stats of their next grade (to off shoot my giant herd's care) and i find that the majority of my herd does pretty well.

@Olympea I do. it's one of my main focuses with my Paints besides conformation. Currently I'm trying for 40 NS stats and below. A have a few Paints that are below 25 NS stats.

Personally I breed for colors mainly, because I am simply obsessed with it. Often I just can't stop and want more and more, because common, just look at these cuties. But the problem is that I don't actually know what to do with them next. From time to time I sale some horses, but then go for even more lol. Perhaps, I need to concentrate on stats, too.
