new show formula?

#170273 Posted on 2018-05-13 05:43:01

prior to the recent Showing Tweak, i chose the discipline for my foundations based on whatever the had the fewest non-specialty stats for, always aiming to keep them at least under 60. However, now I’m unsure how to train them. Without knowing the formula, I’m not sure if I should instead choose the discipline for which they have the most non-spec stats (since those count now), or if I should be aiming for a specific ideal number (65? 75?) of non-spec stats.

Has anyone been able to figure out the formula? Are your super-high non-spec horses doing better in shows or worse? Have you noticed any patterns?

Hopefully we can crowd source a solution, because trying to breed outstanding show horses is pretty difficult when I’ve no idea what factors now go in to making a good show horse! :)

I'm also curious. Possibly back after a long break, and a little confused!

Personally I'm planning to shoot for 55-65 non-spec.

I just wonder if as the grade of the horse increases the non-spec should also increase a little bit, or if keeping them at foundie levels is going to be more beneficial? I have no idea as of yet (I plan to maintain foundie levels for now until some more showing days have passed to allow enough data to come in).

I will say that so far my low spec horses are still performing well at the top of their grade.

I plan to run some of my hay-cubed horses in shows to see how they perform (I'm expecting/hoping they'll flop since they had such high non-spec).

Well my foundation level horse (about 55 non spec) just lost a bunch of shows to horses with really low non spec and her total specs were quite a bit higher. So I have no idea

Majority of my horses that I show are 60 or less NS stats. They are doing very well as long as I am entering them when they are in the top of their grade. I usually wait until they are 4 or less stats away from moving into the next grade.

If a portion of NS stats count then I would imagine the lower the NS still the better as even horses with lower NS will have a portion of those count towards their stats then.

My horses with under 50 non spec stats are doing poorly. Even against horses with similar non spec stats.

One of my horses has been competing with a horse that has fairly high non spec stats (at least 70, though i have not counted) and keeps losing to this horse, which seems to be doing well.

I have locked my show horses because all these bugs keeping popping up and with no idea on what makes a decent show horse anymore, I am getting tired of throwing my money away.

Seems like it might have been easier to just tweak the breeding formula to allow us to breed down non specs like the old version of EV......   :(

My horses are doing fantastic again. If not better than pre buggy shows. Even those with low non spec stats.

Is showing consistant now? Or are people still experiencing considerable ups and downs?

My 1k+ statted endurance horse lost in an endurance horse to a horse showing in the same endurance class but the specialty of said horse was western... noticed that a few times :'(
