[Cinch] Hello Strangers

Hi everyone!
Long time no see! It's been quite a spell since I've been on here, honestly I can't remember when I was last on. Lol. Back in September I brought home a gorgeous yearling from a breeder I'd followed for about 10 years. I also had just gotten a job promotion to a Direct Care Lead (aka I kind of helped manage one house). About a month later... I broke my ankle in two spots.
I'm glad to say I'm finally getting on the mend. About a month ago I was released from the care of my surgeon and physical therapist... but the pain/swelling can linger for another 6 to 9 months, and removing the plate and screws may be an option if I still have pain.
Right after I was getting back on my feet and back to work, my company announced they were hiring for 4 new RSMs (actual manager of houses, the change brought RSMs from 3 to 2 houses, hence the hiring for so many new ones). Originally they only posted 3 RSMs ... basically I was being guaranteed a spot but had to go through the interview and everything to be offered it.
I'm happy to say I was offered and accepted the RSM position. It comes with a lot more work, especially when one of my houses has been struggling to keep staff. But... we're getting there. We got hit by a lot of things the past few months. Anthony lost the only key to his car... it took us a month of hassle of getting a new title as we couldn't find it, replacing the battery as it sat too long in the cold ... and then right as we were getting that taken care of, my car decided it needed a new Rod Bearing which basically meant a new engine... So we went out and had to get me a new car, but it's such a lovely vehicle it's hard for me to get mad. Plus my promotion earned me a company phone, so eliminating my phone bill basically pays my car bill.

I do have some sad news to tell though. Anyone that's known me long enough knows of my two dogs. Chase (a nearly 6 year old) Sheltie Mix [who we actually have determined is actually an Aussie mix...] and Rudy (a 4 year old) Pekingese. The end of February, we started noticing Rudy was slowing down, not moving much, and attacking Chase more frequently (we had some scuffles, but it was always few and far between.). Then one day my husband arrived home, and Rudy couldn't walk. We brought him to the vet where we did an X-ray and found compression between his vertebrae. He wasn't a candidate for surgery, so our option was to try steroids. The first few days he perked up, but he slowly started going down hill again. A week later, right when we started to wean off the meds, I came home and he wasn't well. He would hardly walk again, and when he was laying down he was shaking uncontrollably and groaned every time he moved. Just looking at him... I knew he was in so much pain and he was giving up. His quality of life wasn't anything... he wouldn't even ask to get on the couch or bed. A place he always was. We brought him to the vet again, who confirmed he pretty much had no feeling in his back paws. We made the hard, but right, decision to let Rudy go. It was the hardest decision ever, and I still even question myself.

After losing Rudy... I knew I wanted another pup. It's how I cope best, and i knew Chase was going to need a friend. I started casually looking, and found a lovely litter of Miniature Australian Shepherds. Funny enough, my husband and I had talked about wanting a red tri female, and they had exactly that. So I made the deposit on the female. I then found out that Rudy's ashes had come in... if that wasn't a sign from our pup to move on, I don't know what it was. However, recently my husband told me he doesn't want this new pup to be his (originally was going to be as Rudy had been his). We agreed it would be my pup, and once Chase passes on many years from now, the next dog will be his. So I contacted the breeder who graciously allowed me to switch my deposit to the pup I actually wanted, a red tri male.

I pick him up on Saturday (omg this week is dragging on soooo much). And I need name ideas... Was hoping to go with a Hunger Games or Harry Potter theme... but nothing has stuck so far. The only one Ive liked so far is Finnick... and I've slowly started to not like it...

So... please give me your name ideas!

In other news... most likely I've sold my horse. With my promotion, my time is incredibly limited, so adding another few hours to my day is very hard, and just not right for a young horse.

Welcome back Cinchy!! We've missed you!

Sorry to hear about the pup, our old man (15yo Lab) is getting there too and I'll be lost for a while.

I haven't been too active here either but I'm always up for a conversation if you'd like!

Welcome back! I too recently lost one of my dogs (I also lost a cat too). I have a rescued Aussie mix and he is the sweetest thing! I never had experience with a mini aussie but I'm sure he will be just as fun!

Name suggestions:
based on your favorite themes
Newt
Oliver
Keeper (find this one a little odd but all well)
Gale
Finnick (Finn for short)
Cinna
Caesar
Archer (because of katniss' skill set)
Forest (where parts of the games take place)
Whiskey (Haymitch always drank so..)

Based of randomly things
Bear
Kai
Jax
Orion
