loosing interest

#159160 Posted on 2018-03-13 23:22:36

hey everyone. some of you might recognize this username, and have noticed that i haven't been on that often. school's been hard, and i'm in my last quarter of this school year. it's been tough. enough of that. but i'm most likely going to pop back on for spring break (which is in two weeks), and then most likely won't be back until summer.

as the title of this post says, i've noticed that i've lost interest in things. horse back riding mainly. i feel that i can't progress, and nothing i do seems to work. things that used to be simple and easy are hard, and i feel that i don't care as much as i used to as well. since my horse passed away last july (he wasn't technically mine, but i like to think he was since i did take care of him), everything has seemed to go down hill. i love the horse i ride now, as he was the one that i basically learned how to do everything on, but it's different. i wish i could see that "spark" i once had when my horse (justin) was still alive.

if anyone has any advice as to how to progress and get better, i'd love to hear it. to be honest, i feel like i'm on the verge of quitting because i can't fix the problems that i now have.

thanks c:

edit: if this sounds like i am depressed, i can assure you i am not, i'm just frustrated with riding

I’m sorry that you lost that horse. :( Is there some other form of riding that would interest you? Maybe you need to switch it up a bit or something, see if that helps.

I second hat midnight mentioned. Try switching up the form of riding, western to English or maybe just your specialty. That's what I do frequently. Also it may help to switch horses. You may love a horse, but need to find one whom can give you your spark back. That's what works for me. (Trust me, I lose my spark faster than a girl loses all her bobby pins) I'm currently without a spark after my trainer got rid of the horse I used to ride all the time and I was in love with. It sucks to lose them.

Its tough losing a equine buddy :( ans this will be NO help to you but From my personal perspective I lost interest in all things riding & horsie when I lost my beloved horse to a freak accident involving his shoulder. I just didn't have the inclination to ride anymore after trying several different horses as a "replacement" which isn't the right word! ... so I quit.

Its been  what... geez practically 10yrs since Ive rode now.

While I have regained my love for horses in general I still have no inclination to ride again, though I do consider it from time to time & perhaps one day I will. Probably when Im in my late fifties or something! Lol

On the flip side I discovered ballroom/latin dancing - talk about a radical hobby change so yeah! But I did meet my soulmate doing so. Silver linings and all that!

I'm sorry to hear that he died, and you're are having these issues. I, too agree that maybe you should try switching, but I can understand if it's not for you. This will probably not help you at all, but I just wanted to know that I'm sorry. ♥
