Help me come up with background ideas

Just found this super old thing on my comp. Originally I was going to draw a bunch of my characters together, but now I'll probably just sell them as YHH's on dA after I fix up some of them and base them and whatnot.



I just need some background ideas that they can all be involved in! I'm open to any suggestions c:
If I pick your idea, I may just add one of your character's in, so if you'd like you can post a ref too (and don't worry, no character design is too hard for me. add-ons are welcome too)

Hmm... maybe something like in Spirit: Stallion of the cimarron? Just that kind of a setting.

Um, ocean beach with cliffs on the left and small rocks on right and waves behind.
Forrest with tall oak trees and blueberry bushes
Trail with horse walking up and trees on either side

Maybe a shady forest trail? Maybe even with options for different seasons.

I think they'd look cool at the crest of a mountain, like those Lipizzaner herds they raise in Austria and let spend some of their time running around freely in parts of the Alps. Just with some nice lusciously green mountains and some more visible in the mist in the background.
