Overpriced Items

I've been going through the item market recently, and I've noticed some things that boggle my mind.  There are so many items posted for some really overblown prices, and I can't wrap my head around the reasoning.  The worst one is a single carrot listed for $10,000,000.  That's right - ten million dollars for a single carrot that you can get for free by the hundreds from the riding school.  Even paying General Store prices, a single carrot would only be worth $40.  

Then there's multiple pages of single treats or a single bag of treats, each one listed for a thousand dollars or more.  Often it's one person posting dozens of entries.  It must have taken ages to list all of those treats one at a time, and no one in their right mind is ever going to buy them.

If anyone reads this who has posted really common, cheap items for really high prices, I'd really like to know why.  Do you ever get any sales?  Inquiring minds want to know.

I bet that the reasoning is; to trick new members, who may have never seen this item before, and then think that the one that it overpriced must be super special. *shrugs*

That's my best guess, anyways.

I always assume they're mistakes, an extra zero where there shouldn't be and such, but some are a little silly.</sup> 

I thought that it's when new players, who were on different games who had like 10 mil not be that much. At least that's what I thought.

I guess I really hope that I'm missing something, and there's a reason for it besides trying to trick newbies or cash in on someone hitting the Buy button accidentally.  And I'm sure some are a typo in price, but when someone posts more than a page's worth all at the same price, inputting each price individually, that indicates a certain amount of deliberate action.

My guess may seem far-fetched, but hear me out. Some of the single-use treat items may have been listed right after the recode. Those people might have thought they were rare because you can't buy them from the store in this version of the game (I'm pretty sure you could before the recode is what I'm getting at) and for a while, I don't think that you could get them anywhere. Now, it's obvious that they aren't worth much because they can be found in riding schools, but riding schools didn't always exist. So, theoretically, there might have been a small window of time when they were hard to come by, but I highly doubt that they were ever rare enough to warrant those kinds of prices (and even if they were, who would honestly pay that much for one treat?). But idk, that's just my two cents.

if it’s the same person or people that list pages of things for crazy prices, you’re probably better off just asking them directly. perhaps they’ve just listed them and forgotten about them! .

I guess I'm nervous I would come across as too confrontational if I went to someone directly and said "Hey, why are you doing this?" because I don't want people to feel like they're being scolded.  I was hoping there was some obvious reasoning that I'm missing, like what Raptor said about single-use treats.  I know I like to collect rare things sometimes (or things that may become rare) even if I'm not going to use them, and people are often willing to pay top dollar for an otherwise worthless object, if there is no other way to get it.  I had forgotten that single use treats weren't available for a while there.
